    Abstract: The present invention provides underground equipment enabling the internal heat of a buried box to be stably discharged to the outside without an external power source. In one embodiment, underground equipment comprises: a buried box of which the top is open; a cover part inserted into the buried box so as to cover the top; and air-conditioning parts which are disposed at the cover part, and which ventilate or close the inner space of the buried box according to the inflow of external water, wherein the inner space of the buried box is closed by means of the lower surface of the cover part, and a heat exchange part for allowing heat to be exchanged between rainwater and the inner space when the rainwater flows therein is disposed at a position of the cover part that differs from the arrangement position of the air-conditioning parts.

    Abstract: An improved underground utility equipment vault is comprised of at least two concentrically disposed chambers. The inner chamber is a non-electrically conductive material such as wood and is disposed in spaced concentric relationship within the outer chamber which is metallic, preferably steel. The exterior surface of the outer chamber is provided with a protective dielectric coating and cathodic protection in the form of sacrificial anodes. The inner chamber is provided with heat vents adjacent its uppermost surface area and cold air returns adjacent its lowermost surface area. The heat vents may be provided with exhaust fans. The inner chamber is provided with above ground air communication and an entryway. The interior of the inner chamber and electric gear therein contained is electrically isolated from the outer chamber and the vault exterior.

    Abstract: A grounded surface distribution apparatus and system is provided including elastomer encapsulated cable terminals, joints, taps, load-break switches, current limiting fuses and surge protectors, each enclosed completely within a metal sheath combined in various arrangements to perform operational functions required in loop and radial underground distribution systems. The cable terminals include a soft dielectric filler making a void-free interfacial engagement with the surface of a hard dielectric filler of a mating component. To provide for breaking a coupling under load, an arc-quenching follower is retractable into an axial cavity in the coupling components of the system and projectable therethrough upon breaking of the circuit and disconnecting of the components to provide an improved arcquenching function. Thus, there is provided an underground system having security, operational safety and convenience.

    Abstract: An enclosure for a network protector in an electrical distribution network includes a cabinet body that defines an interior region that accepts the network protector. The cabinet body three electrodes sealed with and electrically isolated from the cabinet body and each other, which extend through the cabinet body to establish electrical connection between corresponding terminals of the network protector and the electrical distribution network. First and second doors are pivotably connected to opposing sides of the cabinet body and have respective contact surfaces to seal against the cabinet body. A first gasket is disposed along a distal edge surface of the first door, and a second gasket is disposed along a distal edge surface of the second door. At least a portion of the first gasket and the second gasket have conformal shapes that sealingly mate with each other when the first and second doors are in a closed position.

    Abstract: A cable bus system for the mounting and positioning of high amperature, from low to high voltage electrical power cables transmitting polyphase electrical current. The cable bus system included a ventilated enclosure used to protect electrical cables mounted therein. The enclosure is provided with multiple modular cable trays which are bolted together in a stacked arrangement to form a single multi-level cable raceway. The enclosure is further provided with ventilated top and bottom covers which are secured respectively to the top and bottom of the uppermost and bottom most cable trays to define the enclosed metal circuit. The cable bus system is capable of transmitting the same highest allowable “free air” cable amperature in both above and underground installations, effectively improving the transmission of electrical power from one end to the other end, in installations where a transition of electrical power from below ground to above ground is either necessary or economically preferable. For the underground portion, the cable bus is installed in the encasement that is uniquely offset vented or power cooled to meet the cable high amperage requirements. The cable bus system is also suitable for high vertical rise installations when utilizing anti cable slip mechanism or technique.
