    摘要: A synchronous detector for demodulating and decoding a digital data signal modulated either according to a vestigial sideband or a quadrature amplitude modulation scheme is based upon the principle of recognizing that a vestigial sideband signal may be regarded and treated as an offset-keyed QAM signal. The detector comprises a tuner for tuning to a center frequency symmetrically displaced within the transmitted digital data signal frequency spectrum and a decoder circuit selectively operating to reconstruct the transmitted digital data stream according to the duration of a transmitted data symbol. A related method of demodulating and decoding a modulated digital data stream comprises analogous steps of tuning to a center carrier frequency and selectively switching between in phase and quadrature arms of the demodulator such that the switch resides in one position or the other for a duration equal to half the duration of a transmitted data symbol. A related modulator for modulating a digital data signal either according to a vestigial sideband or quadrature amplitude modulation scheme comprises a switch for selectively switching an input digital data signal between real and imaginary arms and a modulator for modulating at center frequency. In one modulator embodiment, a noise cancellation circuit may be coupled between the real and imaginary arms.

    摘要: A direct conversion receiver includes a local oscillator for generating a first local oscillator signal having a variable frequency. A 90° phase shifter operates for shifting a phase of the first local oscillator signal by 90° to convert the first local oscillator signal into a second local oscillator signal. A first mixer operates for mixing a received RF signal and the first local oscillator signal. A second mixer operates for mixing the received RF signal and the second local oscillator signal. A first low pass filter processes an output signal of the first mixer. The first low pass filter has a controllable cutoff frequency. A second low pass filter processes an output signal of the second mixer. The second low pass filter has a controllable cutoff frequency. A demodulator recovers an information signal represented by the received RF signal from output signals of the first and second low pass filters. A frequency error detector operates for detecting an error between a frequency of a carrier of the received RF signal and the frequency of the first local oscillator signal in response to the information signal recovered by the demodulator. An oscillator controller operates for controlling the frequency of the first local oscillator signal in response to the error detected by the frequency error detector. A filter controller operates for controlling the cutoff frequencies of the first and second low pass filters in response to the error detected by the frequency error detector.

    摘要: A bandwidth stabilized PLL in an FPLL has an I channel including an I channel signal, having a pilot, and a Q channel signal. The DC offset, including the pilot, of the I channel signal is determined. The value of the pilot is found by subtracting the determined DC offset from the I channel signal. An error signal is developed from the known value of the transmitted pilot and the determined value of the pilot. The error signal is used to control a gain block for the Q channel for stabilizing the bandwidth of the PLL. Different embodiments are shown for controlling the gain of the PLL from both inside and outside of the PLL.

An error detector is furthermore present for detecting amplitude and phase errors in the quadrature channels, which error detector in response to the quadrature components of the center frequency signals, the quadrature signals of a VCO in the quadrature PLL demodulator, and the filtered difference said quadrature components of the center frequency signal, supplies amplitude and phase correction signals to a quadrature channel correction network which is provided between the filter circuit and the quadrature PLL demodulator.
