摘要: A method and an apparatus for measuring linearity in a reproduction appliance includes an operating carriage bearing a scanning or recording device. The operating carriage is able to be moved in discrete steps in a given direction along a straight line. The operating carriage is successively moved along partial segments of the line. Each of the partial segments is longer than a travel corresponding to one of the steps and is shorter than the entire length of the line. The partial segments each have an exactly defined length defined by an additional carriage moveable along the given direction. The number of steps needed for each partial segment are counted and deviations between values for a travel of the operating carriage resulting from the partial segment and values for the travel of the operating carriage resulting from counting the steps are calculated.

摘要: There is a problem in that, when a handle section is provided in a recording device, the handle section protrudes from a casing and the size of the recording apparatus is increased. A recording apparatus is provided with a recording head which records on paper and a discharge tray which is provided to be able to slide with regard to a casing and holds the paper which is recorded upon using the recording head and discharged, where the discharge tray has a through section which is formed on the downstream side in a discharge direction and a handle section which is formed at an edge section more to the downstream side in the discharge direction than the through section, the handle section is accommodated inside of the casing in a state where the discharge tray is accommodated in the casing, the through section and the handle section are positioned outside of the casing in a state where the discharge tray is drawn out from the casing, and the discharge tray is supported in a state of hanging down from the casing.

摘要: Systems and methods for processing, storing, and viewing extremely large imagery data rapidly produced by a linear-array-based microscope slide scanner are provided. The system receives, processes, and stores imagery data produced by the linear scanner as a series of overlapping image stripes and combines the data into a seamless and contiguous baseline image. The baseline image is logically mapped into a plurality of regions that are individually addressed to facilitate viewing and manipulation of the baseline image. The system enables dynamic imagery data compression while scanning and capturing new image stripes that eliminates the overhead associated with storing uncompressed image stripes. The system also creates intermediate level images, thereby organizing the baseline image into a variable level pyramid structure referred to as a virtual slide. The system facilitates the use of virtual slides in applications such as telemedicine, telepathology, microscopy education, and analysis of high value specimens like tissue arrays.

摘要: Apparatus for and method of fully automatic rapid scanning and digitizing of an entire microscope sample, or a substantially large portion of a microscope sample, using a linear array detector synchronized with a positioning stage that is part of a computer controlled microscope slide scanner. The invention provides a method for composing the image strips obtained from successive scans of the sample into a single contiguous digital image. The invention also provides a method for statically displaying sub-regions of this large digital image at different magnifications, together with a reduced magnification macro-image of the entire sample. The invention further provides a method for dynamically displaying, with or without operator interaction, portions of the contiguous digital image. In one preferred embodiment of the invention, all elements of the scanner are part of a single-enclosure that has a primary connection to the Internet or to a local intranet. In this embodiment, the preferred sample type is a microscope slide and the illumination and imaging optics are consistent with transmission mode optics optimized for diffraction-limited digital imaging.

摘要: A data management system and method for processing, storing, and viewing the extremely large imagery data that is rapidly produced by a linear-array-based microscope slide scanner is provided. The system receives, processes, and stores imagery data produced by the linear-array-based microscope slide scanner at approximately 3 GB per minute. The data are received as a series of overlapping image stripes and combined into a seamless and contiguous baseline image. The baseline image is logically mapped into a plurality of regions that are individually addressed to facilitate viewing and manipulation of the baseline image. The data management system enables imagery data compression while scanning and capturing new image stripes. This advantageously eliminates the overhead associated with storing uncompressed image stripes. The image compression also creates intermediate level images, thereby organizing the baseline image into a variable level pyramid structure referred to as a virtual slide. The data management system efficiently converts image stripes into a high quality virtual slide that allows rapid panning and zooming by image viewing software in accordance with the individually addressed regions. The virtual slide also allows efficient processing by an algorithm framework. The data management system is costs effective and saleable, employs standard image file formats and supports the use of virtual slides in desirable applications such as telemedicine, telepath logy, microscopy education, and the analysis of high value specimens such as tissue arrays.

摘要: A liquid ejecting head is operable to eject liquid toward a target medium. A light emitter is operable to emit light. A light receiver is adapted to receive the light emitted from the light emitter, and operable to output a signal in accordance with an amount of the received light, thereby detecting a position of the liquid ejecting head. A transparent member is elongated in a first direction and disposed between the light emitter and the light receiver. A line pattern is provided with the transparent member so as to oppose the light emitter, and including light transmitting sections and light shielding sections which are alternately arranged in the first direction with a first pitch. Each of the light transmitting sections is adapted to allow the light emitted from the light emitter to pass through. Each of the light shielding sections is adapted to shield the light emitted from the light emitter. A width of each of the light transmitting sections in the first direction varies relative to a second direction perpendicular to the first direction. The light receiver includes a substrate elongated in the first direction. A plurality of light receiving elements are arrayed on the substrate in the first direction such that positions of adjacent light receiving elements relative to the second direction are made different in accordance with the width of each of the light transmitting sections.

摘要: In a multiplied pulse generation device, a detection signal is outputted every time a driven object is driven by a specific amount. An actual cycle indicating a time interval between the detection signal and a previous detection signal is measured. An estimated cycle is estimated based on at least past two actual cycles including the actual cycle measured. A multiplied pulse is sequentially generated in such a manner that a multiplied cycle indicating a time interval per which the multiplied pulse is generated is sequentially changed according to an amount of change from the actual cycle to the estimated cycle.
