    摘要： An automatic paper dispensing apparatus includes a molded plastic housing and a protective cover hingably attached to the housing, the housing further including a pair of parallel end shields disposed in a lower part of the housing. Each of said parallel end shields are perpendicular to a rear plane of the housing and spaced to allow positioning of a rotatably supported support drum and a pressure roller disposed in relation to the drum to ensure feeding of a strip of paper from a take-off reel disposed in an upper part of the housing. Each of the end shields include elastically deformable tongues having recesses to accommodate the pressure roller and to position opposing ends of the support drum, wherein the support drum is a unitary member comprising a smooth continuous area extending over essentially one-half the outer periphery of the drum, and having a plurality of discs spaced over the entire length thereof. Each of the discs are spaced apart from one another by a plurality of parallel plates, each of the discs including scalloped areas for accommodating a hinged cutting blade, the smooth area being disposed separately from the scalloped areas of the drum and in which the diameter of the drum at the smooth area is larger than the diameter of the drum at the remainder thereof so as to facilitate detachment of the strip of paper after cutting thereof.

    摘要： An apparatus for dispensing a paper wiping material includes a toothed spur mechanism which includes an arm which pivots counter to an elastic return relative to a pivotally mounted cutter blade holder. The arm includes a curvilinear section having a plurality of teeth which engage a fixed rack. The engagement defines an angular sector bounded by the initial contact area between the teeth of the fixed rack and the arm, the pivot axis of the toothed spur mechanism and the cutting surface of the cutting blade which extends approximately 160 to 170°. The elastic return includes a first end which is fixed to a tab of the blade holder and a second arm which is fixedly attached to the arm permitting an elastic interconnection.

    摘要： A dispenser for cutting and feeding a web of flexible sheet material is described in which a feed roller carries a web cutting blade and a spring connected to an eccentric crank affixed to the feed roll. While initial movement of the web through the mechanism and actuation of the cutter to effect partial separation of the web material is produced by the user's pull on the web, such pull also loads the spring which, upon unloading, delivers the cut web material from the dispenser. The spring is designed to gradually arrest rotation of the feed roll and to be exhausted of stored energy at a predetermined position of the feed roll whereupon the uncut segments of web material are efficaciously severed and the leading end of the succeeding web material is automatically positioned where it can be readily grasped by a subsequent user.

    摘要： A feed mechanism for feeding a web of rolled flexible sheet material, such as soft paper towels, out of a dispenser. The mechanism includes a feed roller within the dispenser and a web cutting blade in the feed roller and projectable and retractable therewith as the feed roller rotates. A contoured cam is attached to an end of the feed roller, and a spring-loaded cam follower presses against the contoured cam. The cam follower, through the cam, controllably assists in the rotation of the feed roller during the feed roller cycle when the blade cuts the web and thereafter to feed a free end of the material to an accessible position outside of the dispenser. The needed maximum pull forces by the user on the material to cut and withdraw the material from the dispenser are thereby significantly minimized, and the likelihood of the soft towel material tearing off in the user's wet hands is accordingly reduced.

A cutting blade is slidably mounted within the feed roller to move in a path parallel to and offset from a radius of the feed roller with cam followers movable with the blade and extending beyond the ends of the feed roller disposed to reciprocate along this radius. Stationary cams are mounted adjacent the ends of the feed roller engaged with the cam followers, respectively, to positively project the blade cutting edge beyond the feed roller periphery to cut the web and retract such edge as the feed roller is rotated by drawing on the web at the dispenser exit.
