A method for the surface treatment of anodic oxide film is disclosed which comprises the steps of electrolyzing the porous surface of anodic oxide film of aluminium or aluminium alloy in an aqueous solution of ammonium thiomolybdate, optionally immersing it in an aqueous solution of ammonium thiomolybdate or alkali metal thiomolybdate and in dilute mineral acid or organic acid alternately, and subjecting it to a heat treatment so as to impregnate the micropores of the anodic oxide film with molybdenum sulfide and to fix the molybdenum sulfide therein.

This invention relates to a method of after-treatment for lithographic printing plates having an aluminum substratum in order to impart an extended durability for offset printing which comprises passing an electric current through the surface of the non-image area of the aluminum substratum and a counter electrode, particularly with a trend of increasing electric voltage in course of time, in an aqueous solution of oxyacid salt or oxyacid salts after forming a printing element which is oleophilic and electrically non-conductive on the image area of the surface of the aluminum substratum and, if necessary, further processing with an aqueous solution of acid or salt.

This invention relates to a method for producing a wrought aluminum article having a colored anodic oxidation film wherein an aluminum article which always has a uniformly colored film and which has higher reproducibility can be obtained. The film obtained shows a characteristic grayish pale silvery color and has a wide range of application.

A method of producing an automotive vehicle bumper from an extruded blank of a heat treatable, age hardenable aluminum alloy. The method comprises heating the blank to a solution heat treating temperature for the alloy, working the blank while hot to a preliminary contour, quenching the hot formed blank to a temperature at which the temper of the alloy is unstable, cold working the blank before any appreciable natural age hardening occurs and to a bumper contour in which the blank is dimensionally stable, and ageing the formed and shaped blank. The blank may be subjected to further finishing operations including trimming and hole punching prior to ageing, and buffing, chemically brightening and anodizing the aged blank to enhance the appearance of the outer surface of the final bumper product.
