摘要： A foot-operated control system for use with a multi-function device includes a movable foot control device, one embodiment of the device comprising a pedal mounted on a base to pivot azimuthally with respect to the base and also downwardly in elevation with respect to the base. When the pedal is pivoted in azimuth, the foot control device provides selection signals to a selector including a function menu. The selector in turn, selects a menu segment from the function menu which corresponds to the desired function of the multi-function device. Pivoting the pedal to the left or to the right moves a menu indicator or icon through the various menu segments until the indicator indicates the segment corresponding to the desired function as indicated. The foot pedal is then returned to a central position and is moved in elevation to actuate the multi-function device to perform the selected function. Other foot-control devices besides the foot pedal device might be utilized with the control system to select and actuate a chosen function.

摘要： A device for generating oscillations for dental applications has an actuator connectable to an energy source and provided with a lifting member. The actuator is connected via a hydraulic linkage to the working device. Via the hydraulic linkage the oscillations generated by the actuator are transmitted onto a workpiece, for example, a crown. With this embodiment it is possible to transmit the mechanical oscillations generated by the actuator onto the crown so that the binder between the crown and the tooth stump is evenly distributed and compressed in a short period of time.

摘要： Apparatus for machining a human tooth includes a rotary cutter that is moved along a predetermined path dictated by motor energizing signals. The cutter is moved vertically by one drive, laterally by another drive and in or out by a third drive. The apparatus is clamped selectively to the patient's jaw or to a model thereof. The dentist's manual work is actually done on a model, with the apparatus being secured to the model in a fixed position. The vertical drive, the lateral drive, and the in or out drive are energized in response to the dentist's manipulation of a joy stick to move the cutter along paths necessary to achieve the desired tooth configuration. A second joy stick is manipulated to vary the attitude of the cutter, about roll and/or pitch axes. Signals proportionate to the extent of each drive operator are delivered to a computer in the sequence and for the period during which the drives are activated. When the machining is completed on the model, the restoration is prepared from the model, and the patient is then called back. The device is then secured to the patient's jaw so that it is in precisely the same relative position as on the model. Then, the computer delivers drive motors machine strokes in the proper sequence to duplicate the machining previously done on the model.

摘要： The present invention relates to an improved delivery system for a dental treatment solution. More particularly, the apparatus disclosed includes a housing defining a well, a reservoir container for the dental treatment solution, and a pump for delivery of the solution to a hand piece. The pump includes an electrically energizable prime mover such as a motor or solenoid, a heater, and a control for the overall system. The control for the system provides a timing arrangement which is actuated upon placement of the reservoir container within the housing well, and which disables the system upon completion of the timing cycle. This feature, coupled with the employment of a visual signal, provides a dental professional with an indication of the strength or useful life of the dental treatment solution. Also disclosed are novel constructions for the pump and the heater, along with a novel design for the reservoir container.

摘要： A rotational coupling device for a cordless dental instrument including a motor housing which has a pair of semi-annular projections integrally provided at a rear end thereof with a pair of arc-shaped recesses formed between the coupling projections and semi-annular slot provided around the inner peripheries of the semi-annular projections. A battery housing has a pair of semi-annular around an outer periphery adjacent its front end, a pair of arc-shaped projections coinciding with the arc-shaped recesses of the motor housing and a pair of semi-annular flanges coinciding with the pair of semi-annular projections of the motor housing so as to form a rotational coupling between the motor housing and the battery housing. An insulating disc having a pair of contacts connected to a motor fits into a rear opening of the motor housing. Another insulating disc having a pair of arc-shaped guide slots fits into a forward opening of the battery housing, each slot including a positive contact, a negative contact and a neutral non-contact point which are selectively connected to the pair of contacts of the motor housing. The motor housing has a standard marking, which is rotatably aligned with a normal marking, a reverse marking and a neutral, marking on the battery housing to drive the drive motor in a normal direction, in a reverse direction or to stop the motor, respectively.
