With the advent of additive manufacturing, i.e. 3D printing, it is now possible to eliminate traditional slotted die boards with generally rectangular steel cutting and creasing rules and replace same with surface printed boards with three-dimensional creasing and cutting rules.

摘要: The invention relates to an apparatus (10, 80) and method (160) for cutting, printing or embossing a continuous sheet (26) of material. The apparatus (10, 80) comprising a tool element (12), at least two anvils 14, 16 which are co-operable with the tool element (12), and a phase adjustment device (24). The tool element (12) is configured to have a constant surface speed during operation of the apparatus (10, 80). The apparatus (10, 80) is adapted to receive the continuous sheet (26) at a constant speed into the apparatus (10, 80), and being adapted to output the continuous sheet (26) at a constant speed from the apparatus (10, 80). The phase adjustment device (24) is operable to adjust a speed of the continuous sheet (26) within the apparatus (10, 80) in order to adjust a phase of alternate parts of the continuous sheet (26) to be cut, printed or embossed by each anvil (14, 16) as it co-operates with the tool element (12).

摘要: The present invention relates to a composite container comprising a bottom film layer and a top film layer at least partially adhered to the bottom film layer. The top film layer is scored to form at least one resealable flap and at least one pull tab which is not adhered to the bottom film layer. The bottom film layer comprises at least one cavity opening. A cardboard layer is adhered on its lower surface to the upper surface of the top film layer, wherein the cardboard layer has at least one cavity opening which is substantially aligned with the scoring of the top film layer resealable flap and the cardboard layer is perforated to define a perimeter of at least one pull tab which is substantially aligned with and adhered, on its underside, to the upper surface of the top film layer pull tab.

摘要: A converting machine is used to convert sheet material into packaging templates for assembly into boxes or other packaging. The converting machine includes a converting assembly that performs transverse conversion functions and longitudinal conversion functions on the sheet material to create the packaging templates. A fanfold crease sensing mechanism detects the presence and location of fanfold creases in the sheet material. Based on the location of the fanfold creases, the fanfold creases are either cut out of the sheet material, or the sheet material is cut to adjust the position of the fanfold crease in a packaging template.

More specifically, the invention relates to a paper-based container that is comprised of a relatively low-density polyethylene coating on one or both surfaces of the container and at least two skive flaps, wherein each of said skive flaps is created during the manufacturing process. The skive flap further comprises at least one leading edge of the container body, and prevents unwanted moisture from entering the container and the contents of the container from saturating the paper-based material. One skive flap is preferably folded in a manner in which a portion of the outside surface of the container is adhered to the inside surface, and a second skive flap is adhered to the outside surface.
