摘要: An assisted in-flight refueling system having a tanker aircraft equipped with a drogue; a fuel take-on aircraft equipped with a probe; and a drogue-probe coupling assist system designed to determine a first distance between the drogue and the take-on aircraft/probe, a second distance between the tanker aircraft and the drogue, and a third distance between the tanker aircraft and the take-on aircraft. The drogue-probe coupling assist system is also designed to determine information relative to the necessary movement of the drogue and/or the necessary movement of the take-on aircraft to couple the drogue to the probe, as a function of the first, second, and third distance.

摘要: A system for landing or docking a mobile platform is enabled by a flash LADAR sensor having an adaptive controller with Automatic Gain Control (AGC). Range gating in the LADAR sensor penetrates through diffuse reflectors. The LADAR sensor adapted for landing/approach comprises a system controller, pulsed laser transmitter, transmit optics, receive optics, a focal plane array of detectors, a readout integrated circuit, camera support electronics and image processor, an image analysis and bias calculation processor, and a detector array bias control circuit. The system is capable of developing a complete 3-D scene from a single point of view.

摘要: Embodiments provide a flying boom that is capable of refueling both receptacle-equipped aircraft and probe-equipped aircraft. In one embodiment, a flying boom includes a refueling tube at an end of the flying boom that is adapted to extend from the end of the flying boom to refuel receptacle-equipped aircraft. The flying boom further includes a retractable hose and drogue assembly at the end of the flying boom that is adapted to extend from the end of the flying boom to refuel probe-equipped aircraft.

The drogue assembly is arranged to controllably fail so as to reduce the drag load produced by the drogue when a drag load on the canopy exceeds a predetermined threshold.

The refuelling system comprises a refuelling connector (34) mounted as part of the aircraft and configured to detachably connect to the fuel outlet (2) of a fuel supply apparatus separate from the aircraft, and a fuel pressure regulator (36) having an inlet in communication with a fuel inlet (35) of the refuelling connector (34) and having an outlet in communication with refuelling pipework (39) of the aircraft. A fuel pressure regulator apparatus for mounting in an aircraft, comprising a connector forming a fuel inlet to the fuel pressure regulator apparatus, configured to detachably connect to the fuel outlet of a fuel supply system, a fuel outlet for connection to the refuelling pipework of an aircraft and a fuel pressure regulator for regulating the pressure of fuel passing through the fuel outlet is also provided.
