    Abstract: A system and method for situational awareness and target cueing for use in military applications is disclosed. In extreme low light situations where the LLL sensor cannot provide SA information, the system allocates thermal information to the green SA channel to maintain the supply of contextual information to the user and thus situational awareness (SA) never drops below the native resolution of the thermal sensor. This improved SA capability, surpasses any existing LLL sensor technology in a single channel (stand-alone) application in overcast star light and below conditions.

    Abstract: An improved method for manufacturing a lateral germanium detector is disclosed. A detector window is opened through an oxide layer to expose a doped single crystalline silicon layer situated on a substrate. Next, a single crystal germanium layer is grown within the detector window, and an amorphous germanium layer is grown on the oxide layer. The amorphous germanium layer is then polished to leave only a small portion around the single crystal germanium layer. A dielectric layer is deposited on the amorphous germanium layer and the single crystal germanium layer. Using resist masks and ion implants, multiple doped regions are formed on the single crystal germanium layer. After opening several oxide windows on the dielectric layer, a refractory metal layer is deposited on the doped regions to form multiple germanide layers.

    Abstract: Communications in a mobile network are scheduled by defining reservation frames having time slots during which network nodes can transmit certain traffic loads while avoiding interference. The nodes maintain maps that identify the slots as either free or reserved based on each node's existing reservations, and reservation information the node receives from neighboring nodes. A node wishing to transmit traffic determines the number of slots required to carry the traffic, selects a first set of slots from among those identified in its maps as free, and transmits a reservation initiation message (RIM) that identifies the first set of slots. Nodes receiving the RIM determine which, if any, of the first set of slots are already reserved based on their own maps, and transmit counter reservation initiation messages (CRIMs) if any slots are reserved. The CRIMs also identify those slots that the CRIM transmitting nodes determine to be currently free.
