Abstract: A wiring-harness includes a wire cable, a connector, and a dress cover. The connector is attached to a portion of the wire cable. The connector has a terminal-face and a wire-cable-face with a body between the terminal-face and the wire-cable-face. The dress cover is attached to a portion of the body. An extension of the dress-cover overlays the wire-cable-face. The extension is configured to guide the wire cable in a predetermined direction. The extension is further configured to be releasably retained by a robotic assembler. The dress cover is further configured to transmit an insertion-force from the robotic assembler to the connector when the terminal-face is inserted into a mating-connector.

Abstract: This document describes techniques and systems related to a radar system using a machine-learned model to identify the number of objects within each range-Doppler bin. For example, the radar system includes a processor that obtains radar data associated with objects and processes the radar data to generate beam vectors. The processor then uses a machine-learned model to identify the number of objects within each range-Doppler bin using extracted features (e.g., magnitude variation, signal-to-noise ratio, subarray beam vector correlations) of the beam vectors. The processor selects a particular angle-finding technique based on whether a single object or multiple objects are identified. In this way, the described systems and techniques more accurately identify the number of object in each range-Doppler bin, thus improving the computational efficiency and robustness of subsequent angle finding.

Abstract: This document describes techniques and systems for autonomous parking in locations without cellular coverage. A system can include a processor that obtains a request to autonomously park in a parking environment. The system can then determine whether parking space information indicating an available space was obtained. In response to determining that parking space information was obtained, the system can autonomously operate the host vehicle to navigate to and park in the available space. The system determines whether a communication system of the host vehicle has a cellular connection available to aid in the navigation. In response to a determination that the cellular connection is not available, the system communicates the location of the host vehicle to the processor via a proxy vehicle with an operable cellular connection. By utilizing a mesh network among vehicles to share their cellular connections, autonomous parking features may remain available in locations without cellular coverage.

Abstract: A method of installing an electrical wiring harness in a vehicle, wherein the electrical wiring harness has at least one branch circuit terminated by an electrical connector includes the steps of wrapping the at least one branch circuit around a wire spool configured to be picked up and manipulated by a robotic arm having a gripping mechanism, placing the electrical wiring harness within the vehicle; and grasping the wire spool with the gripping mechanism while simultaneously moving the robotic arm and rotating the wire spool with the gripping mechanism to pay out a desired length of the at least one branch circuit. An apparatus for performing this method and an electrical wiring harness well suited for use with this method is also described herein.

Abstract: A waveguide with a curved-wall low-pass filter is described herein. The waveguide comprises a low-pass filter portion configured to allow low-frequency electromagnetic energy therethrough and reject high-frequency electromagnetic energy. The low-pass filter portion comprises an input port, an output port, and a cavity feature that is formed between the input port and the output port. The cavity feature has a greater depth than respective depths of the input port and the output port. The cavity feature comprises a bottom wall that achieves the greater depth for the cavity feature. The bottom wall comprises at least one curved portion configured to allow the cavity feature to achieve the allowance of the low-frequency electromagnetic energy and the rejection of the high-frequency electromagnetic energy. The cavity feature may allow the waveguide to have as good or better performance than traditional means while being easier to manufacture and/or taking up less space.

Abstract: This document describes techniques and systems relating to isolation slots for an antenna and printed circuit board (PCB) interface of a radar system. For example, isolation slots may be etched on a metal surface layer of a PCB for a radar control module on each side of each transmission line (e.g., microstrip line) that forms an array of channels (e.g., transmit channels, receive channels). When the PCB and an antenna structure are mated, a gap exists along the mating plane in which energy leakage between the channels can occur. The isolation slots create a stop band for a certain range of frequencies of interest and may reduce this energy leakage even when the gap is uneven along the mating plane. The isolation slots may be relatively easy and inexpensive to manufacture. The gap along the mating plane is not required to be constant, further simplifying the manufacturing process.
