Abstract:
Balloon catheters according to the present invention have surface contours with protrusions and grooves to make non-continuous lesions. There is a heating element inside the balloon. The balloon will be filled with a fluid before ablation to expand the balloon for tissue contact, and to transfer heating energy from the heating element to the tissue in contact with the balloon. Since the balloon surface has contours with grooves and protrusions, the tissue contact will not be continuous along the balloon surfaces, and therefore the ablation on the tissue will not be continuous. The energy transmitter can be ultrasound transducer, electrical resistant heater, and microwave antenna.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for retaining a length of fiber optic cable to a circuit board includes a spool-shaped retention apparatus. A body portion of the apparatus includes a channel formed about the periphery of the body portion for receiving and retaining a portion of the length of fiber optic cable in an arc having a radius greater than a minimum bend radius of the fiber optic cable. A plurality of legs extend from the body portion, each of the legs is adapted to be received in a mounting opening formed in the PC board. Each of the spaced legs may include a foot portion adapted for securing the body to the circuit board.
Abstract:
An apparatus comprising a handle to insert and eject a circuit board and a signal-carrying conductor routing mechanism formed by the handle to group and route a plurality of signal-carrying conductor.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for retaining a length of fiber optic cable to a circuit board includes a body portion. The body portion of the apparatus includes at least a pair of spaced legs extending from the body portion, each of the legs is adapted to be received in a mounting opening formed in the PC board. Each of the spaced legs includes a foot portion adapted for securing the body to the circuit board and at least a pair of spaced arms extend from the body portion defining a slot between the arm and the body portion for receiving and retaining a portion of the length of fiber optic cable. The arms are spaced a distance from each other for retaining the fiber optic cable in an arc having a radius greater than a minimum bend radius of the fiber optic cable.
Abstract:
An optical wavelength multiplexer and/or demultiplexer is provided having mechanical strain relief. The mechanical strain relief is provided by mounting ears carried by a molded coupling module supporting the fiber optic cable receptacle. The mounting ears are engaged by a pair of mounting plates carried by a housing for the device. Loads applied to the fiber optic cable receptacle are transferred to the housing frame and do not adversely affect the optical pathway of the assembled device.
Abstract:
Provided are a method, article of manufacture, and apparatus for estimating delays of networks. An automated design system comprises a computer configured to identify a critical path in a network, calculate a delay for the technology-mapped version of the network, calculate a delay for the technology-independent version of the network, calculate a scale factor from the technology-mapped and technology-independent delays, and apply the scale factor to all the delays in the technology-independent network.
Abstract:
A fan tray apparatus and method includes a mounting body portion having a length and a width. The mounting body portion further includes first and second longitudinal sides and first and second lateral sides. A plurality of fans is operatively attached to the mounting body portion. The plurality of fans includes a first set of fans, a second set of fans, and a third set of fans. The first set of fans is positioned along the first lateral side. The second set of fans is positioned along the second lateral side. The third set of fans is positioned between the first set of fans and the second set of fans, the third set of fans positioned on a middle portion of mounting body portion.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for shielding electromagnetic interference (EMI) for a disk drive includes a body portion for operatively securing to the disk drive. The body portion includes a flange portion. The flange portion includes a plurality of tab portions that substantially surround a perimeter portion of the body portion to allow a force applied to the body portion to deflect the plurality of tab portions and bias the plurality of tab portions against a contact surface to form a positive contact between the plurality of tab portions and the contact surface thereby shielding EMI.
Abstract:
A precurved cardiac introducer sheath (4) includes an elongate, hollow body having main and tip portions (24, 22). The tip portion includes first through fifth segments (26, 28, 30, 32, 34). The first, second, and third segments lie in a first plane (36) while the fourth and fifth segments lie in a second plane (38) oriented at a second angle (37) of about .+-.10 to 170.degree. to the first plane. The second segment defines an arc extending along a first, included angle of about 90-110.degree. while the fourth segment defines an arc extending along a third, included angle of about 90-140.degree. . The first, third, and fifth segments are preferably generally straight segments. The precurved introducer sheath is preferably configured to direct the electrophysiology catheter (18) directly at the posterior region (52) of the left atrium (40). The precurved introducer sheath is preferably housed within an outer introducer sheath (46) having a radially deflectable distal end (46), or a fixed distal curve.
Abstract:
A lead for use with an implanted pulse generator which may be a pacemaker or defibrillator or combination thereof. The lead can deliver an electrical charge to cardiovert or defibrillate the ventricles of the heart via a large surface area defibrillation electrode which is passively implanted in the ventricle. The defibrillation electrode is designed to produce a uniform defibrillation charge distribution.
