    Abstract: An electric motor with a stator includes a first plurality of coils and a plurality of first electrical connectors. Each of the coils of the first plurality of coils are connected to at least one of the plurality of first electrical connectors. The stator also includes a first guide on a first end of the motor for guiding each of the first electrical connectors. The stator also includes a second plurality of coils. Each of the coils of the second plurality coils is connected to at least one of a plurality of second electrical connectors. The stator also includes a second guide on a opposed second end of the motor positioned at least partially over the second end face of the stator. The second guide guides each of the second electrical connectors.

    Abstract: A motor controller coupled to a motor is provided. The motor controller includes a processor, a memory coupled to the processor, a first input coupled to the processor, wherein the first input is associated with a first mode of operation, and a second input coupled to the processor, wherein the second input is associated with a calibration mode. The motor controller is configured to receive, through the first input, a first activation signal, operate the motor in the first mode of operation in response to receiving the first activation signal, while operating the motor in the first mode of operation, receive, through the second input, a second activation signal, in response to receiving the first activation signal and the second activation signal, adjust a value of a parameter associated with the first mode of operation, and store the value of the parameter in the memory.

    Abstract: A fan drive circuit for a variable speed fan motor in a cooling system, includes an inverter configured to supply a current signal to stator windings of the variable speed fan motor, a frequency detection circuit coupled to an output stage of an inverter of a compressor motor of the cooling system and configured to detect a first frequency of a compressor current signal at the output stage of a variable speed compressor drive circuit and generate a frequency signal, and a digital signal processor (DSP) coupled to the inverter and the frequency detection circuit. The DSP is configured to receive the frequency signal corresponding to the first frequency from the frequency detection circuit, select a second frequency corresponding to the first frequency at which to operate the variable speed fan motor, and transmit control signals to the inverter to supply current to the stator windings at the second frequency.

    Abstract: A motor controller for a blower in a gas-burning appliance. The motor controller includes a processor configured to receive a measured pressure differential measured by a sensor disposed in an airflow generated by the blower. The processor is configured to compute a motor speed based on the measured pressure differential and a pressure differential set-point for the gas-burning appliance. The processor is configured to operate the blower at the motor speed to drive the measured pressure differential toward the pressure differential set-point.

    Abstract: A method of assembling an electric motor includes coupling a rotor hub to a rotor disk to form a rotor assembly and slidably coupling the rotor hub to a shaft at a first position. The method also includes coupling a stator assembly to the shaft to define a first axial gap between the stator assembly and the rotor assembly. The method further includes sliding the rotor assembly to a second position along the shaft to define a second axial gap between the stator assembly and the rotor assembly. The second position is based on a measured back EMF constant of the electric motor when the rotor assembly is in the second position.

    Abstract: A blower assembly for a gas-burning appliance includes a blower and a motor coupled to the blower and configured to turn the blower to provide airflow through the gas-burning appliance. The blower assembly also includes a housing enclosing the blower and the motor. The housing a first portion and a second portion coupled to the first portion. The first portion and the second portion define a cavity therebetween to receive the motor and the blower. The blower assembly further includes an inlet sleeve coupled between the first portion and the second portion. The inlet sleeve is configured to couple to the gas-burning appliance and receive the airflow from the gas-burning appliance. The blower assembly also includes a seal extending at least partially around the inlet sleeve and at least partially between the inlet sleeve and at least one of the first portion and the second portion.

    Abstract: A blower assembly is attached to a water heater having an exhaust opening, the assembly includes a tank cap attached to a tank of the heater. A recess surface formed in the exterior surface of the cap. A member has a first surface that is connected to the tank cap to form a cover plenum between the cap and the member. The blower includes a motor, an air moving member connected to the motor and a blower housing having an interior containing the fan. The blower housing has an input opening that communicates the blower housing interior with the member output opening. The blower housing, the member and the tank cap provide an exhaust gas flow path from the exhaust opening of the heater through the cover plenum, through the blower housing interior and out the output opening.

    Abstract: An electric machine includes a motor assembly including a motor controller including an NFC tuned circuit. The electric machine also includes a motor housing defining an interior space and enclosing the motor assembly within the interior space. The electric machine further includes an electric machine housing. The motor housing is enclosed within the electric machine housing. The electric machine also includes an NFC antenna mounted within the electric machine housing and configured to emit a magnetic field at a selected frequency. The magnetic field is configured to induce an electric current in the NFC tuned circuit. The electric machine further includes a memory configured to store information included in signals transmitted between the NFC antenna and the NFC tuned circuit via the magnetic field.
