Abstract:
In acoustic panels employing a layer of perforate metal adhesively bonded to a layer of porous fibrous metal of a different type with the perforations of the perforated layer and the pores of the porous fibrous layer open to communication therethrough and the layers being isolated therebetween. The isolation between the layers is maintained by applying a coating of liquid epoxy resin material to selected locations, curing the epoxy coating, cutting or drilling the layers as required, and recoating the cut or drilled areas with a second coating of liquid epoxy resin.
Abstract:
A bar or straddle pin construction is disclosed for use in torque rods, the pin having an elongated metal inner member surrounded by a plastic outer member in which the plastic outer member tightly engages the inner member such that the two members are coaxially aligned. The inner member is configured to contemporaneously provide a means to aid in the bonding between itself and the plastic outer member and a means to aid in the external connection of the torque rod.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a two-celled battery for use in cardiac pacer devices which comprises an outer encasement member and first and second internal cell elements. Each of the first and second cell elements includes an insulating cup, a lithium anode positioned within the cup, and a cathode positioned in contact with said anode. Each of the insulating cups includes an opening therethrough such that the lithium anode in the first cell makes contact with a terminal mounted through and insulated from the encasing means and the anode of the second cell is electrically in contact with the cathode of the first cell. The insulating cup of the second cell is positioned within the insulating cup of the first cell and both first and second cells are positioned within the encasing means such that the terminal contact with the first lithium anode and the encasing means is in contact with the cathode of the second cell.
Abstract:
An underwater acoustic absorber and reflector having an impervious rigid al bonded to a rubber tile. When installed on baffle plates of an underwater vehicle the absorber maintains its efficiency under hydraulic pressure.
Abstract:
A laser oscillator circuit is disclosed which allows the operating frequency of the laser to be tuned over a wide range of frequencies in response to a wideband control signal. A laser oscillator such as that disclosed is useful in optical communications systems and especially in optical receivers utilizing a phase-locked control loop for tracking out frequency variations due to noise and the Doppler shifts.
Abstract:
An improved homodyne receiver for use in wideband optical communications systems is disclosed. The invention provides phase-locked homodyne reception of non-suppressed carrier or suppressed carrier input signals. Novel means are provided in the receiver for generating an error signal to provide phase-locked operation in the presence of noise and frequency excursions of the received signal.
