摘要: Examples described herein relate to an optical device. The optical device includes a first microring resonator (MRR) laser having a first resonant frequency and a first free spectral range (FSR). The first FSR is greater than a channel spacing of the optical device. Further, the optical device includes a first frequency-dependent filter formed along a portion of the first MRR laser via a common bus waveguide to attenuate one or more frequencies different from the first resonant frequency. A length of the common bus waveguide is chosen to achieve a second FSR of the common bus waveguide to be substantially equal to the channel spacing to enable a single-mode operation for the optical device. Moreover, the optical device includes a first reflector formed at a first end of the common bus waveguide to enhance a unidirectionality of optical signal within the first MRR laser.

摘要: A laser apparatus includes at least one electro-optic (EO) medium through which a polarized laser beam passes for N times, forming a plurality of first-pass to Nth-pass beams, by reflecting the polarized laser beam from at least one reflection mirror, and a power supplier configured to alternately provide a 1/N of a half-wave (λ/2) or quarter-wave (λ/4) voltage and remove the voltage to the EO medium, λ being a wavelength of the polarized laser beam. The at least one EO medium is tilted at angle θ and/or angle di with respect to one of the plurality of first-pass to Nth-pass beams. The at least one EO medium comprises a M number of EO mediums, and the power supplier is configured to alternately provide a 1/M*N of a half-wave (λ/2) or quarter-wave (λ/4) voltage and remove the voltage to each of the M number of EO mediums.

摘要: The present invention discloses a high-peak-power single-frequency narrow-linewidth nanosecond fiber laser based on a triangular pulse, wherein the laser includes: pulsed laser generated by the laser seed injecting into a first power pre-amplifier through a first isolator, and then injecting into a second pre-amplifier and then injecting into a power amplifier; wherein triangle-shaped pulsed laser with fast rising edge is obtained by using electro-optic and acousto-optic modulator to modulate continuous wave single-frequency laser or a single-frequency semiconductor laser directly modulated by radio frequency signal; single-frequency triangle-shaped pulsed laser is employed as the laser source according to the characteristics of narrow intrinsic linewidth and suppression of linewidth broadening caused by SPM, and the power of pulsed laser is amplified through the MOPA system.

摘要: A swept light source of the present invention keeps a coherence length of an output beam long over an entire sweep wavelength range. A gain of a gain medium is changed with time in response to a wavelength sweep and the coherence length is kept maximum. The gain of the gain medium is kept close to a lasing threshold and an unsaturated gain range of the gain medium is narrowed over the entire sweep wavelength range. An SOA current waveform data acquiring method of driving while keeping the coherence length long, a novel coherence length measuring method, and an optical deflector suitable for the swept light source are also disclosed.

摘要: A compact diode laser achieves high-power, short duration output pulses by separating the lasing action from the pulse-generating mechanism. A diode seed source is configured for gain-switching via a variable RF source. A time lens element includes an intensity modulation device, a phase modulation device, and a pulse compressor. The intensity modulation device carves shorter pulses from the long gain-switched seed pulses, the phase modulation device adds chirp, and the pulse compressor compensates for the chirp while producing high-power short-duration output pulses.

The laser energy may be generated with an apparatus having a resonator with the capability of switching between a modelocked pulse operating mode and an amplification operating mode. The operating modes are carried out through the application of a time-dependent bias voltage, having waveforms as described herein, to an electro-optical device positioned along the optical axis of the resonator.

摘要: Systems and methods are described for producing an amplitude-modulated laser pulse train. The laser pulse train can be used to cause fluorescence in materials at which the pulse trains are directed. The parameters of the laser pulse train are selected to increase fluorescence relative to a constant-amplitude laser pulse train. The amplitude-modulated laser pulse trains produced using the teachings of this invention can be used to enable detection of specific molecules in applications such as gene or protein sequencing.

摘要: An extreme ultraviolet light (EUV) generation system is configured to improve conversion efficiency of energy of a laser system to EUV energy by improving the efficiency of plasma generation. The EUV generation system includes a target generation unit configured to output a target toward a plasma generation region in a chamber. The laser system is configured to generate a first pre-pulse laser beam, a second pre-pulse laser beam, and a main pulse laser beam so that the target is irradiated with the first pre-pulse laser beam, the second pre-pulse laser beam, and the main pulse laser beam in this order. In addition, the EUV generation system includes a controller configured to control the laser system so that a fluence of the second pre-pulse laser beam is equal to or higher than 1 J/cm2 and equal to or lower than a fluence of the main pulse laser beam.
