    摘要: A first and second plurality of lighting elements are each capable of producing a desired overall luminance output for a backlight at power level P. A respective controller is in communication with each of the plurality of lighting elements. At least one of the controllers is configured to determine a threshold luminance output, measure a measured luminance output, apply a non-zero power level less than P to the plurality of lighting elements, and, when the measured luminance output drops below the threshold luminance output, increase the power level applied to at least one of the plurality of lighting elements, up to as high as power level P, to return the measured luminance output to said threshold luminance output.

    摘要: A system for powering and controlling an LED-backlit liquid crystal display (LCD) where redundancy is used to provide two independent paths from a pair of power supplies to the LED backlight. Further, two independent paths are also used from a pair of power supplies to the LCD. If any one of the paths were to fail or begin to degrade in performance, the system contains monitoring circuits which can direct another path to be used by the system. Two separate control circuits for the LCD may be used so that either one may be used to control the LCD if one were to fail. Two separate temperature sensors and luminance sensors may also be used to increase the durability of the system.

    摘要: Image latency is reduced in a video display system where an image is displayed for a stroke video frame period. The system has a display device and a plurality of memory buffers, each of which is adapted to receive image data (in a receiving condition) or to display data to the display device (in a display condition). The stroke video frame period is divided into at least two time periods and the number of memory buffers provided is at least the number of time periods per stroke video frame period. One of the memory buffers is in the display condition for a first time period, with the remaining memory buffers in the receiving condition. At the end of the time period, the memory buffers are rotated so that the displayed memory buffer moves to the receiving condition and one of the receiving buffers moves into the display condition.

    摘要: A device for providing support to an LCD and its corresponding components during various manufacturing steps. A first carrier section is positioned on a work surface and is then loaded with an LCD as well as drivers to be bonded to the tabs of the LCD. Once the desired work has been performed a second carrier section is mated with the first carrier section and a closing means is utilized to position the two carrier sections in a closed position. Once the two carrier sections have been placed in a closed position about the LCD and other components, the entire piece may be safely removed from its position on the work surface for further processing, storage, etc. Exemplary embodiments also relate to a method of providing support to an LCD and its corresponding components during various manufacturing steps.

    摘要: A device for aligning a LCD panel having circuit elements with driver circuit card assemblies, consisting of retractable pins located around a central platform. The retractable pins extend in order to receive the LCD panel and circuit element assembly and hold it in place as the circuit elements are aligned with driver circuit card assemblies. Once aligned, the drivers and LCD panel can be bonded together. Once bonded, the pins are retracted and the LCD panel and driver assembly is released. The present invention also relates to a method of aligning LCD panels and drivers using retractable pin tools.
