Abstract:
An insulation structure of a cargo tank in an LNG carrier and a method of constructing the insulation structure include a first metal foil attached and installed in between the top insulation panel and the bottom insulation panel, a second metal foil attached to and installed on the first metal foil that is positioned on an upper side of a gap formed between the bottom insulation panels, and a top bridge panel attached to and installed on an upper side of the second metal foil.
Abstract:
The object of this invention is to provide a hybrid composite journal bearing which is constructed so that a composite liner is positioned on an inner surface of a metal housing having a circular cross-section, thus preventing a journal from being damaged or seized to the bearing, due to friction between the metal or composite journal and the journal bearing. The hybrid composite journal bearing (210) includes a metal housing (211) which is secured on an outer surface thereof to a bearing system and has a circular cross-section A composite liner (212) is laminated to an inner surface of the metal housing (211) with a uniform thickness so as to minimize friction between the journal bearing and a journal.
Abstract:
A probe card is used in conducting a visual test for a target test object through simultaneous contact of the probe card with each and every electrode pad of the target test object. The probe card includes a plurality of probes composed of conductive wire strands and having elastically deformable contact parts so curved as to make contact with electrode pads of a target test object. The contact parts are oriented in one and the same direction and extend in a parallel relationship with one another. The probe card further includes a first insulating block for fixedly securing one end parts of the probes, a second insulating block for fixedly securing the other end parts of the probes and a mounting plate for holding the first and second insulating blocks in such a manner that the contact parts of the probes protrude outwardly.
Abstract:
A method of repairing or reinforcing worn-out underground buried drainpipes by a resin transfer molding process using both flexible tubes and bagging films is disclosed. In the method of this invention, a reinforcement is primarily inserted into a desired position within a target worn-out drainpipe buried underground. The reinforcement consists of a fiber preform internally having a flexible tube, such as a silicon tube, axially extending along the central axis of the preform and wrapped with an adhesive-coated flexible film as a bagging film to provide protection from sewage or underground water. The flexible tube is, thereafter, expanded to bring the fiber preform into close contact with the interior surface of the target drainpipe. The opposite ends of the reinforcement are sealed with two lids. Thereafter, thermosetting resin is transferred into the fiber preform, thus allowing the fiber preform to be impregnated with the thermosetting resin. The impregnated resin is, thereafter, cured to shape the fiber preform as desired, thus repairing and reinforcing the target drainpipe.
Abstract:
A hybrid shaft adapted to be used as a drive shaft of an automobile transmission system comprises a unitary cylindrical hybrid stem formed from a metal tube and a composite material layer adhered to the metal tube. The metal tube provides torque-transmission strength to the hybrid shaft while the composite material layer increases a specific modulus of the hybrid shaft. The hybrid shaft is produced by stacking a composite material layer on a metal tube, putting a thermal shrinkage tube on the composite material layer, and co-curing the metal tube and the composite material layer while exerting a longitudinal compression force on the metal tube to prevent it from being thermally expanded.

Abstract:
A fixing apparatus for fixing a cargo insulation panel to a hull is provided. The fixing apparatus includes a fixing plate adhered to one face of the insulation panel, a plurality of fixing brackets protruded to the outside of the fixing plate, protruded portions of the fixing brackets being fixed by stud bolts arranged on the hull, and a coupling device configured to couple the fixing brackets to the fixing plate.
Abstract:
The present invention is related to a reinforcing member for a membrane for improving the pressure-withstanding property of the membrane having corrugations, and a membrane assembly having the reinforcing member and a method of constructing the membrane assembly. By providing a reinforcing member for a membrane having corrugations and installed in an insulating structural member of an LNG cargo, the present invention can prevent the collapse of the corrugation and attenuate shocks against a same load without increasing the facial rigidity of the corrugation, and improve the insulating property by forming an additional insulating layer.
