A receiving apparatus is disclosed. The receiving apparatus comprises: a first receiving unit receiving first multimedia data, to which a first time code is added by frame, through a broadcast network; a second receiving unit receiving second multimedia data, to which a second time code is added by frame, through an IP network; a first signal processor for signal processing the first multimedia data and generating a first video frame; a second signal processor for signal processing the second multimedia data and generating a second video frame; a controller for comparing the first time code of the first multimedia data with the second time code of the second multimedia data, and calculating a difference in time stamp information on video frames having matching time codes; and a rendering unit for using the difference in time stamp information to read respective video frames that are synchronized from among the generated first video frame and the second video frame, and performing rendering.

An image processing method, including extracting compensation information comprising one from among a depth compensation value and a depth value compensated for by using the depth compensation value; when the compensation information comprises the depth compensation value, compensating for a depth value to be applied to a pixel of a two-dimensional (2D) image by using the depth compensation value, and generating a depth map about the 2D image by using the compensated depth value, and when the compensation information comprises the compensated depth value, generating the depth map about the 2D image by using the compensated depth value; obtaining positions in a left-eye image and a right-eye image by using the depth map, wherein the pixel of the 2D image is mapped to the positions; and generating the left-eye image and the right-eye image comprising the positions to which the pixel is mapped.

A method and apparatus for providing a three-dimensional (3D) image is provided. In the method, first-viewpoint image data and second-viewpoint image data that provide a 3D image are obtained. Time information that represents points of time that the first-viewpoint image data and the second-viewpoint image data are to be processed is produced, based on relation information to indicate that the first-viewpoint image data and the second-viewpoint image data are a pair of pieces of image data. The first-viewpoint image data, the second-viewpoint image data, and the time information are transmitted. The first-viewpoint image data is transmitted in a first stream, and the second-viewpoint image data is transmitted in a second stream.
