    摘要: Copolymers of ethylene and α-olefins having (a) a density in the range 0.900-0.940 g/cm3, (b) a melt index MI2 (2.16 kg, 190° C.) in the range 0.01-50 g/10 min, (c) a molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn, by conventional GPC) in the range 2.0-4.5, (d) a comonomer partition factor, Cpf>1, and (e) a melt index MI2 (2.16 kg, 190° C.) normalized Dow Rheology Index (DRI), [DRI/MI2] in the range 3-20. The copolymers may be prepared using catalyst systems containing activating supports. The copolymers are suitably prepared in the gas phase preferably in a single reactor. The copolymers exhibit unique properties in particular with respect to their rheology.

    摘要: A process for the preparation of expandable polystyrene (EPS) containing particles of carbon black and/or graphite is disclosed, comprising: (a) forming a masterbatch by adding carbon black and/or graphite to styrene polymer, (b) adding said masterbatch to an organic phase comprising styrene and optional comonomers, and heating the organic phase to a temperature between 30 and 90° C., (c) mixing the organic phase with an aqueous phase comprising water and suspending agents preheated to a temperature between 80 and 120° C. which is higher than the temperature of the organic phase, and (d) polymerizing in a suspension polymerization reaction the styrene and optional comonomers contained in the mixed aqueous and organic phases, with an expanding agent being added before, during or after the polymerization, wherein the styrene polymer in the masterbatch contains at least 1 000 ppm of dimers. The process gives an improved product.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a process for the polymerisation of olefins in a gas phase fluidised bed reactor, and in particular provides a polymerisation process comprising: i) passing a fluidising gas to the reactor to fluidise a bed of polymer particles therein, ii) withdrawing the fluidising gas from the reactor, iii) cooling all or a portion of the fluidising gas withdrawn from the reactor to a temperature at which a portion of the components of the fluidising gas condense to form condensed liquid, and iv) passing condensed liquid and non-condensed components of the fluidising gas back to the reactor, wherein there is provided a reservoir of condensed liquid downstream of the cooling step, and variations in the inventory of the condensed liquid are made in order to control the temperature in the reactor.

The copolymer component (a) may be prepared by use of metallocene catalyst systems and the novel blends exhibit an improved balance of processability and mechanical properties and are particularly useful for film applications.
