Abstract:
An optical disc, and a recording/reproducing method and apparatus to record information on the optical disc. The optical disc includes an optical information storage layer, including a layer format region and a user data region. The layer format region is divided into virtual layers that are disposed at different depths. The virtual layers include layer information to distinguish the virtual layers from one another.
Abstract:
A method of operating a non-volatile memory device reduces a time for discharging a precharged voltage when a program operation or a read operation is performed, thereby decreasing a total operation time of the non-volatile memory device. The non-volatile memory device discharges a bit line and a word line using only a control signal without reading an algorithm block when a precharged voltage is discharged. The method of operating a non-volatile memory device includes detecting an operation command; generating algorithm blocks for generating an operation voltage, for precharging a bit line and a word line, and for performing a specific operation in accordance with the operation command; outputting a discharge enable control signal for the bit line and the word line; and reading an algorithm of turning off and discharging a voltage generating means for generating the operation voltage.

An optical disk reproducing apparatus to equalize and reproduce a signal optically read from an optical disk includes a controller to determine a number of regions to divide the optical disk into according to a reproduction frequency variation corresponding to a signal quality variation, and an equalizer to filter signals optically read from the divided regions with a cut-off frequency corresponding to the reproduction frequency variation.
Abstract:
A chromatic aberration correcting method to correct chromatic aberration generated during a conversion from a reproducing mode to a recording mode in an optical recording and reproducing apparatus which uses an optical pickup to form a light spot on an optical information storage medium by focusing light emitted from a light source using an objective lens and to detect light reflected from the optical information storage medium using a photodetector includes applying a focus offset to the objective lens before the conversion from the reproducing mode to the recording mode to reduce defocus caused by chromatic aberration generated according to the change in wavelength generated when an output light power of the light source is changed from a reproducing light power to a recording light power, and correcting the defocus by outputting the recording light power from the light source during the conversion to the recording mode while the focus offset is applied to the objective lens.
