Abstract: This disclosure relates generally to systems and methods for characterizing a behavior of an anatomical structure. Tracking data can be generated by a tracking system to represent at least a location of at least one sensor in a three-dimensional tracking coordinate system over time. A motion model is generated to characterize the behavior of the anatomical structure over a plurality of time instances. For instance, the motion model includes at least one free parameter and a temporal parameter. Each free parameter estimating geometry of the anatomical structure derived from the tracking data, and the temporal parameter indexes the free parameter over the plurality of time instances. A visualization is generated to provide a sequence of graphical images based on the motion model to characterize behavior of the anatomical structure over time.

Abstract: A trackable guidewire apparatus and method for use are described. Longitudinally spaced proximal and distal guidewire ends are separated by a guidewire body. A plurality of longitudinally spaced position sensors are configured to provide signals corresponding to a three-dimensional position of at least one position sensor in a coordinate system of an associated tracking system in response to an electromagnetic field/stimulus. At least one retention mechanism is provided for maintaining the medical device in a predetermined retention position longitudinally along the guidewire body. At least one stop structure is provided in a predetermined stop position longitudinally along the guidewire body.

Abstract: A PSMA-specific agent comprising a compound according to Formula I or Formula II: wherein S1 is absent or is an organic spacer group comprising 3-10 carbons; A is an amino acid chain comprising 1 to 5 amino acids wherein at least one of the amino acids is selected from glutamic acid and aspartic acid; S2 is absent or is an organic spacer group comprising 1 to 15 carbons and/or 0 to 2 amino acids; I1 is an imaging group; and I2 is absent or is an imaging group. The PSMA-specific agents can be used to image PSMA within a tissue region and/or for the treatment of a cancer, such as prostate cancer.

Abstract: One aspect of the present disclosure can include an intubating airway. The intubating airway can include a first component (14) having a first guiding surface and a second articulating component (16) that is attached to the first component via a hinge and has a second guiding surface. In a closed configuration, the first and second guiding surfaces can be flush with one another so that the first and second components collectively define a conduit having an interior passage that is dimensioned to direct a fiber-optic scope or an endotracheal tube extending through the interior passage for tracheal intubation. In an open configuration, the first and second guiding surfaces are not flush with one another so that no such conduit is formed.

Abstract: A spill protection basin for preventing spilling overflow fluid from a surgical site of a patient. The basin includes a perimeter wall defining an inner volume. A suction port is formed in the perimeter wall and adjacent to a bottom end thereof. The suction port is configured to permit drawing fluid from the inner volume when suction is applied thereto.

Abstract: A ventilator conduit for a reversible airway device (RAD) is provided. The RAD can include a supra-glottic support member connected to a tubular guide (TG) having oppositely disposed proximal and distal end portions and TG lumen, which extends between the ends and is defined by an inner surface. The RAD can be physically free of an endotracheal tube. The ventilator conduit can include a hollow tube having first and second ends, and a ventilator conduit lumen extending between the ends. The first and second ends can be adapted for connection to a ventilator circuit and insertion into the TG lumen, respectively. At least the second end of the hollow tube can be sized and dimensioned so that, upon insertion into the TG, an outer surface of the second end is brought into direct contact with a portion of the inner surface to form an air-tight seal therebetween.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for evaluating a donor lung undergoing ex-vivo perfusion. The system includes a processor and a non-transitory computer readable medium storing executable instructions. The executable instructions include a feature extractor that generates a plurality of parameters representing the donor lung undergoing ex-vivo perfusion. At least one of the plurality of parameters are ordinal categorical parameters that can assume one of a plurality of categorical values. A score calculator is configured to assign a numerical value to each of the ordinal categorical parameters according to the categorical value associated with the parameter and to determine a composite score representing a suitability of the donor lung undergoing ex-vivo perfusion for transplant from the plurality of parameters. A user interface is configured to provide an output representing the composite score to a user at an associated output device.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for monitoring the effects of therapeutics on the brain. Brains of first and second sets of patients are imaged and a gene expression is measured at a first time to provide a first set of images and a first set of gene expression transcripts. A therapeutic is administered to the first set of patients after the first time. The brains of the patients are imaged and the gene expression of the patients is measured at a second time, after the therapeutic is administered, to provide a second set of images and a second set of gene expression transcripts. A change in the brain is determined for the patients from the sets of images. A set of changes in the gene expression that are correlated with the changes in the brain are determined from the change in the brain and the sets of gene expression transcripts.
