Abstract:
An apparatus and method for communicating control information in a Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) system using a multi-hop relay scheme is provided. A method of transmitting control information includes generating scheduling information by performing scheduling for a Relay Station (RS); determining a valid duration for the scheduling information; generating a resource allocation message containing the scheduling information and the valid duration information; and processing the resource allocation message in a physical layer and for transmitting the resource allocation message to the RS.

Abstract:
An apparatus and method for handling network loss in a wireless access system includes determining whether network loss has occurred or not and, if a Mobile Station (MS) attempts an entry in which the network loss has occurred, transmitting one of a first message including information associated with prohibiting new entry and a second message including information associated with informing that a supported service is restricted.
Abstract:
An upper node is provided for use in a wireless communication system using a relay scheme. The upper node includes means for transmitting, upon a request of a lower relay station for an initial connection of the lower relay station, downlink section information for communication with the lower relay station for a relay service to the lower relay station; and means for transmitting, after the initial connection with the lower relay station, frame configuration information for communication with the lower relay station for a relay service to the lower relay station through the downlink section. The downlink section information includes configuration information of the downlink section for communication with the lower relay station for a relay service.
Abstract:
An apparatus is capable of supporting an intra-BS handover of a Mobile Station (MS) that can distinguish a Relay Station (RS) and a Base Station (BS) in a multi-hop relay broadband wireless communication system. A handover of an MS in a multi-hop relay wireless communication system includes receiving a neighbor advertisement message. When a handover command message that initiates a handover to a target node is received, information on a target node is acquired, and an upper BS of the target node is identified. When the identified upper BS of the target node is the same as an upper BS of the serving node, control information that has been previously used in a serving node is used in the target node, and communication with the target node is performed.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for supporting a different system in a broadband wireless communication system using a multi-hop relay scheme are provided. A DownLink/UpLink (DL/UL) frame of a Base Station (BS) includes a legacy access zone for communicating with a legacy Mobile Station (MS), a relay zone for communicating with a legacy Relay Station (RS), and a new zone for communicating with a new MS. A DL/UL frame of an RS includes a legacy access zone for communicating with a legacy MS and a legacy relay zone for communicating with a new BS by legacy standards.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for Automatic Repeat reQuest (ARQ) feedback polling in a wireless communication system are provided. The method for ARQ feedback polling includes transmitting at least one ARQ block to a receive end, polling ARQ feedback to the receive end using an extended header, determining if ARQ feedback information is received from the receive end within a lifetime of ARQ feedback, determining success or failure of transmission of the at least one ARQ block through the ARQ feedback information if it is determined that the ARQ feedback information is received within the lifetime of ARQ feedback, and polling ARQ feedback again to the receive end if it is determined that the ARQ feedback information is not received within the lifetime of ARQ feedback.
Abstract:
An apparatus and a method for data retransmission in a multihop relay wireless communication system are provided. The retransmission method includes determining whether an error is detected in data received from an upper node; generating a message indicative of the data error; and sending the message to the upper node at a time that is not appointed with the upper node. Therefore, it is possible to reduce a retransmission delay time that occurs during synchronous retransmission.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for handling data error in a data transmission system including a relay station which receives a data from a transmission apparatus and transmits the data to a receiving apparatus is provided. A relay station which transmits, to a receiving apparatus, a data received from a transmission apparatus, the relay station including: a data receiver to receive the data from the transmission apparatus; an error detector to detect whether an error of the received data is generated; and a data transmitter to transmit the received data and an error generation indicator for the received data to the receiving apparatus when the error is generated. According to the present invention, it is possible to combine transmitted data with retransmitted data and decode error-free data by transmitting data including a generated error to a receiving apparatus when error is again generated in the retransmitted data.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for an admission control for a service flow in a broadband wireless access communication system using a multi-hop relay scheme is provided. In a method for operating a relay station in a broadband wireless communication system using a multi-hope relay scheme, a request message requesting an admission control decision for a service flow is received from an upper node. It is determined whether a requested QoS parameter set included in the request message is supportable. If the requested QoS parameter set is supportable, the request message is forwarded to a subordinate relay station corresponding to a next hop in a data transmission path. If the requested QoS parameter set is unsupportable, a response message indicating the unsupportability of the requested QoS parameter set is transmitted to a base station.
