    Abstract: Herein described are apparatuses, systems, and methods for measurement and reporting of channel state information within wireless network systems. In embodiments, an apparatus for a user equipment (UE) may include memory to store a rank indicator (RI), a precoding matrix index (PMI), and a channel quality indicator (CQI) of channel state information (CSI) for the UE. The apparatus may further include circuitry to concatenate the RI, the PMI, and the CQI to produce a concatenated CSI element, generate a CSI report that includes the concatenated CSI element, and cause the CSI report to be transmitted to a base station within a single slot. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.

    Abstract: Techniques for employing QCL (Quasi Co-Location) signaling for beamforming management are discussed. One example embodiment can comprise an apparatus that can determine whether a first set of RS (Reference Signal) APs (Antenna Ports) are QCL-ed (Quasi Co-Located) with a second set of RS APs with respect to one or more large-scale channel properties, wherein the properties comprise an average angle-of-arrival and an angle of arrival spread, and wherein the first set of RS APs are distinct from the second set of RS APs; and select, based on the determination, beamforming weights for reception via the second set of RS APs. In the same or other embodiments, QCL can be indicated between RS antenna port(s) and antenna port(s) of beam reference signal is used to assist UE beamforming for reception of data or control channel transmitted on DM-RS antenna ports.

Also provided is a procedure of RLM. At least some embodiments allow for beam recovery request for UE beam refinement, and allow for determining whether radio link failure (RLF) occurs.

    Abstract: Technology for a user equipment (UE) configured to perform beam failure recovery. The UE can encode a beam failure recovery (BFR) request for transmission on a physical random-access channel (PRACH) or a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) to a next generation node B (gNB). The UE can monitor a dedicated physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) control resource set (CORESET) for a response from the gNB to the beam failure recovery request. The UE can select a default physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) beam, wherein it is assumed, at the UE that a same quasi co-location (QCL) assumption for a PDSCH as a QCL assumption for the dedicated PDCCH CORESET; or a PDSCH demodulation reference signal (DMRS) is QCLed with a downlink (DL) reference signal (RS) of an identified candidate beam by the UE. The UE can decode a beam failure recovery request response from the gNB.

    Abstract: Embodiments of a User Equipment (UE), Next Generation Node-B (gNB) and methods of communication are generally described herein. The UE may receive an information element (IE) that includes: a higher layer parameter that indicates a plurality of modulation and coding scheme (MCS) thresholds; and another higher layer parameter that includes a plurality of resource block (RB) thresholds. The UE may determine a time density of phase tracking reference signal (PT-RS) to be transmitted by the UE based at least partly on a comparison between a MCS and the plurality of MCS thresholds. The UE may determine a frequency density of the PT-RS based at least partly on a comparison between a scheduled bandwidth and the plurality of RB thresholds. The UE may encode the PT-RS for transmission in accordance with the determined time density and the determined frequency density.
