Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, methods, and computer-readable media are provided for a user equipment (UE) of a wireless communication system. The UE includes a processor circuitry, and radio front end circuitry coupled to the processor circuitry. The processor circuitry is configured to determine and indicate, to a core network via a radio access network (RAN), one or more cellular internet of things (CIoT) features that are required by the UE and CIoT network behavior expected from the core network to support the one or more CIoT features that are required by the UE. The processor circuitry is configured to select either an enhanced packet core (EPC) or a 5G core (5GC) to establish a wireless connection with the core network, based on a first set of CIoT features supported by the EPC and a second set of CIoT features supported by the 5GC received from the core network.

Abstract: Systems and methods of providing a V2X communications are generally described. A geographically-limited, operator-independent mapping table is used that maps between groups of V2X applications each associated with a different application category and a different RAT preferred for the V2X application category. Each grouping is based on fulfillment of one or more KP Is for the associated V2X application category. Multiple RATs are prioritized if able to fulfill the KP Is. The mapping table is modified based on the RATs supported by the V2X UE. Carrier aggregation is used when simultaneous transmission on different RATs is desired.

Abstract: Systems and methods of providing V2X communications are generally described. The multimode UE communicates V2X messages with an eNB. The eNB detects whether the UE is able to receive messages from a nearby DSRC RSU based on measurements received from the UE and reported to the eNB. Based on the measurements, the eNB offloads V2X traffic to the DSRC RSU and triggers the UE to start communicating the V2X services from the DSRC RSU rather than the eNB. The measurements are reported in a BSR or DSRC MAC control element or RRC measurement report. The measurement report includes DSRC presence fields, CCH measurements and SCH measurements for each DSRC RSU that the UE is able to detect.

Abstract: A Next Generation Node-B (gNB) and methods of communication are generally described herein. The gNB is configurable to operate as a source gNB. The gNB is configured with logical nodes including a gNB central unit (gNB-CU) and a gNB distributed unit (gNB-DU). The gNB-CU comprises a gNB-CU control plane (gNB-CU-CP) for control-plane functionality, and a gNB-CU user plane (gNB-CU-UP) for user-plane functionality. When a handover of a User Equipment (UE) from the source gNB to a target gNB is performed, the gNB transfers, from the gNB-DU to the gNB-CU-UP, a downlink data delivery status (DDDS) message to indicate that the gNB-CU-UP is to stop transfer, to the gNB-DU, of downlink data intended for the UE.

Abstract: Techniques for identifying and remedying performance issues of Virtualized Network Functions (VNFs) are discussed. An example system includes processor(s) configured to: process VNF Performance Measurement (PM) data received from a network Element Manager (EM) for a VNF; determine whether the VNF has a negative performance issue based on the VNF PM data; request that the EM create a Virtualization Resource (VR) PM job associated with a VR of the VNF when the VNF has the negative performance issue; process VR PM data received from the EM; determine whether to restart the VNF based on the VR PM data and the VNF PM data; and request a network function virtualization orchestrator (NFVO) to restart the VNF based on a determination to restart the VR.
