Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed. In an example from the perspective of a User Equipment (UE), a signal to configure the UE to perform a Random Access Channel-less (RACH-less) handover to a second cell may be received in a first cell, wherein the signal comprises a candidate list of beams for Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH) monitoring in the second cell and/or the signal is indicative of a first beam of the candidate list of beams (to be used by the UE for PDCCH monitoring). A PDCCH in the second cell on the first beam may be monitored before receiving a Medium Access Control (MAC) Control Element (CE) assigning a second beam for PDCCH monitoring in the second cell.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for random access in a wireless communication system are disclosed herein. In one method, a user equipment (UE) performs a first attempt of a random access procedure to communicate with a cell via at least a first UE beam. The UE performs a second attempt of the random access procedure to communicate with the cell via at least a second UE beam when the first attempt fails, in which the direction of the first UE beam and the direction of the second UE beam are different.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed from the perspective of a UE. In one embodiment, the method includes triggering a MAC control information, wherein the MAC control information is linked to a specific set of scheduling unit(s). The method further includes determining a transmission opportunity based on an uplink grant. The method also includes using the transmission opportunity to transmit a first packet that includes the MAC control information to a base station if the uplink grant belongs to the specific set of scheduling unit(s). In addition, the method includes using the transmission opportunity to transmit a second packet that does not include the MAC control information to the base station if the uplink grant does not belong to the specific set of scheduling unit(s).

Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed from the perspective of a UE. In one embodiment, the method includes maintaining a first timing advance for a cell, wherein the first timing advance is associated with a first identifier. The method further includes performing a random access procedure in the cell. The method also includes receiving an initial value of a second timing advance for the cell via a random access response of the random access procedure. In addition, the method includes receiving a second identifier to associate with the second timing advance. Furthermore, the method includes maintaining the first timing advance and the second timing advance for the cell.

In one embodiment, the method includes maintaining a first timing advance value for uplink transmissions. In addition, the method includes receiving a signaling, via a downlink control channel, to schedule a first uplink transmission in a cell, wherein the signaling includes a first information to assist the UE to determine a specific timing advance value for the first uplink transmission, and the first information indicates an index value used to control an amount of timing adjustment to be applied. The method also includes performing the first uplink transmission in the cell at transmission timing determined at least based on the specific timing advance value.
