Abstract: Pairing of a radio access network (RAN) slice to a core network (CN) slice is disclosed. The pairing can be based on RAN slice information, CN slice information, and device information. The device information can enable access to corresponding information from a data store, such as historical pairing correlated to a device, device type, etc. Moreover, other supplemental information, such as service information, can also be employed in determining the pairing. In an aspect, the other supplemental information can enable access to corresponding information form a data store, such as other CN slices comprising an identified virtual network function, historical performance of previously determined pairing(s), etc. A determined pairing can be modified before provisioning or after provisioning based on the RAN slice information, CN slice information, supplemental information, or corresponding information. Further, pairing information can be employed to directly initiate pairing or to cause another device to initiate pairing.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing a virtual network function in a visited network are disclosed. For example, the method receives an attach request or a handover for a user endpoint device, determines a home network for the user endpoint device, receives a profile of the user endpoint device, determines a policy for providing a service to the user endpoint device in accordance with the profile, determines a set of virtual network functions needed for providing the service to the user endpoint device in accordance with the policy, grants the attach request or the handover, designates for each virtual network function of the set of virtual network functions that is needed for providing the service, a corresponding virtual network function for serving the user endpoint device at a location of the user endpoint device, and provides the service to the user endpoint device via the set of virtual network functions.

Abstract: Concepts and technologies are disclosed herein for virtual probes. A processor can execute a probe orchestrator service. The processor can obtain traffic monitoring data that describes traffic associated with a logical node. The logical node can include two or more devices that can exchange information as internal traffic. The processor can analyze the traffic monitoring data to determine one of the two or more devices hosts external traffic that involves an external device that resides outside of the logical node. In response to a determination that the one of the two or more devices hosts the external traffic, the processor can trigger instantiation of a virtual probe at the device of the plurality of devices.

Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, allocating virtual network function resources for a wireless connection with a gateway device, facilitating establishing the wireless connection with the gateway device utilizing the virtual network function resources to provide for transmitting of data from the gateway device to an application server where the data is stored by the gateway device until a determination is made that a threshold associated with the data has been satisfied, and tearing down the virtual network function resources responsive to a determination that the transmitting of the data from the gateway device to the application server via the wireless connection has been completed. Abstract: Concepts and technologies are disclosed herein for initiating signaling in mobile management entity pools using workflows. A processor can execute an orchestrator application. The processor can receive location data that indicates a geographic location at which a virtual mobility management entity has been instantiated and registered. The processor can obtain a mobility management entity topology that defines boundaries of two or more mobile management entity pools and identify, based on the location data, one of the mobility management entity pools in which the virtual mobility management entity is located. The processor can identify pool elements included in the mobility management entity pool, obtain a workflow for establishing and configuring the pool elements, and request establishment of signaling between the virtual mobile management entity and the pool elements.

Abstract: Concepts and technologies are disclosed herein for using diversity to provide redundancy of virtual machines. A server computer that executes an orchestrator application can receive a virtual machine instantiation request. The server computer can analyze the request to determine needs associated with a virtual machine (including a redundancy requirement). The server computer can obtain resource availability data that indicates availability of resources and includes diversity data used to provide diversity-based redundancy of the virtual machine. The server computer can identify a pool of resources and identify, among the pool, two or more resources. The two or more resources can include a most diverse group of resources of the pool of resources and can be identified based upon the diversity data. The server computer can trigger instantiation of the virtual machine and a copy of the virtual machine on the resources.
