    摘要: A public key cryptographic system uses Lucas functions as the basis for encoding and decoding messages. An encoding device and a decoding device are linked by a communication channel. The first device is able to be actuated by some message to be transmitted, M, as well as an encryption key, E, so as to form a cryptogram, C, so that C can be sent over the communication channel to a decoding device. The encryption key, E, is a pair of positive whole numbers, e and N, which match the decryption key, D, of the second decoding device. The message M must usually be broken down into blocks, M.sub.i, such that each is greater than or equal to zero and less than or equal to N-1. N is a composite number--i.e. it is made up of at least two prime numbers, p and q, such that N=p.multidot.q. The cryptographic transformation done by the encoding device can be described using the notation of Lucas functions. It is, for each ith block of message M which produces a matching ith block of the cryptogram C:C.sub.i =V.sub.e (M.sub.i,1)(modulo N)where e has been chosen to be relatively prime to all of (p-1), (q-1), (p+1) and (q+1).

    摘要: High speed turning of elongate confectionery bars through 90.degree. is executed in two stages. The bars are turned through an acute angle in a first stage by a timed blast of air from an air jet while the bar are in flight between first and second conveyors and through a further acute angle by a pair of diverging differential speed conveyors. The timing of the air blast is achieved by detecting the leading edge of the bar by sensors prior to projection. The orientation of the bar is checked by further sensors after initial transfer to the differential speed conveyors, and the relative speeds of those conveyors is adjusted if necessary to complete the turn.

    摘要: Apparatus for obtaining samples of liquids such as raw sewage from a flow line (1) comprises a tube (2) opening into a container (4) and a tube (7) connecting between a pressure medium supply (9) and the container (4). A reservoir (8) connects with the tube (7) and can be vented. By means of the controlled operation of valves the pressure medium is used to clear the tube (2) before opening of a valve (5) a controlled volume of the pressure medium is passed to the reservoir (8) to withdraw a liquid sample into the container (4), excess sample above the level of the tube (2a) is transferred back to the flow line (1), and the tube (2) is again cleared. The valves (5, 6) do not therefore have any contact with any liquid from the line (1) during their operation.

    摘要: Host system data files are written directly to a large erase block flash memory system with a unique identification of each file and offsets of data within the file but without the use of any intermediate logical addresses or a virtual address space for the memory. Directory information of where the files are stored in the memory is maintained within the memory system by its controller, rather than by the host. The file based interface between the host and memory systems allows the memory system controller to utilize the data storage blocks within the memory with increased efficiency.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for tracking temporal use associated with cache evictions to reduce allocations in a victim cache is disclosed. Access data for a number of sets of instructions in an instruction cache is tracked at least until the data for one or more of the sets reach a predetermined threshold condition. Determinations whether to allocate entry storage in the victim cache may be made responsive in part to the access data for sets reaching the predetermined threshold condition. A micro-operation can be inserted into the execution pipeline in part to synchronize the access data for all the sets. Upon retirement of the micro-operation from the execution pipeline, access data for the sets can be synchronized and/or any previously allocated entry storage in the victim cache can be invalidated.
