摘要: A method and system for migrating data and metadata from a first backup system to a second backup system via a staging system is disclosed. The system accesses the backup data from the first backup system and restores it, along with the associated metadata, to a staging system. A metadata file is created at the staging system which comprises of the metadata that is to be migrated to the second backup system. The system then migrates the data from the staging system to the second backup system. The metadata is also migrated to the second backup system in a format such that it can be indexed. As a result, the migrated data can be browsed and searched based on one or more search criteria based on the associated metadata. Other details are provided herein.

摘要: An information management system implements a method for securing a media agent from unauthorized access, where the method includes configuring a secondary storage computing device to initialize a filter driver at boot time and monitor process calls to a media agent, where the media agent provides read and write operations to a secondary storage device in communication with the secondary storage computing device. The filter driver may detect a process call to the media agent, and determine whether the process call is authorized. In response to a determination that the process call is authorized, the filter driver may allow the process call to request an operation be performed by the media agent, and the media agent may then perform the requested operation. If the filter driver determines that the process call is not authorized, the filter driver may ignore the process call for the requested operation.

摘要: An information management system supports the concurrent transfer of multiple extents from a client computing device having one or more files stored in a primary storage device. The client computing device determines whether one or more of the files are extent-eligible by comparing a file size of a file with a predetermine file size threshold. Based on the comparison, the client computing device determines that the file is extent-eligible, and determines a plurality of extents for the extent-eligible file. The client computing device may then concurrently transmit one or more of the extents of the extent-eligible file to one or more nodes in communication with the client computing device. The one or more nodes may index the received extents for later retrieval during a restore operation of the extent-eligible file. The one or more nodes may also validate the extents to ensure that the extents are not corrupted.

摘要: Systems and methods for performing file-level restore operations for block-level data volumes are described. In some embodiments, the systems and methods restore data from a block-level data volume contained in secondary storage by receiving a request to restore one or more files from the block-level data volume, mounting a virtual disk to the block-level data volume, accessing one or more mount paths established by the virtual disk between the data agent and the block-level data volume, and browsing data from one or more files within the block-level data volume via the established one or more mount paths provided by the virtual disk.

摘要: Certain embodiments described herein relate to an improved selective data backup system. In some embodiments, one or more components in an information management system can determine that a portion of the primary data scheduled for backup was previously backed up or is scheduled to be backed up as part of another backup operation. For example, a data agent performing a cluster-level backup operation for an entire cluster of storage servers may check whether any part of the primary data was previously backed up by a prior server-level backup operation for one of the storage servers in the cluster. If so, the data agent may skip, in the cluster-level backup operation, any portion of the primary data stored in the storage server previously backed up as part of the prior server-level backup operation.
