    摘要: A separating system for separating a fluid mixture incorporates a smart surface having reversibly switchable properties. A voltage is selectively applied to the smart surface to attract or repel constituents of a fluid mixture, such as oil and water produced from a hydrocarbon well. The smart surface can be used in a conditioner to increase droplet size prior to entering a conventional separator, or the smart surface and other elements of the invention can be incorporated into an otherwise conventional separator to enhance separation. In a related aspect, a concentration sensor incorporating smart surfaces senses concentration of the fluid mixture's constituents.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for compiling a protocol data unit (PDU) having a predetermined length from at least one data block for transmission in a wireless communication system. At least one data block is designated for transmission. The data block is first stored in a memory. A data block information list and a data block address list are generated for the data block. The data block information list contains the length of the data block which is to be included within the PDU and the data block address list contains the memory address of data block which is to be included in the PDU. The PDU is then compiled utilizing the data block information list and the data block address list when the PDU is ready for transmission.

    摘要: An attachment assembly for securing large excavation teeth on large earth excavation equipment including an excavation tooth, an adaptor having a tapered nose piece at one end thereof for carrying the tooth and defining means rearwardly of the nose piece for securing the adaptor to the excavation implement, a pin for securing the tooth in place on the nose piece and a wear cap adapted to be carried by an engage the adaptor so as to abut a rear portion of the tooth for reducing wear of the adaptor during use. The wear cap defines a forward tooth abutment surface, a first inclined lower surface adapted to abut a first portion of the adaptor rearwardly of the nose piece, a second inclined lower surface spaced from the first inclined lower surface and adapted to abut a second portion of the adaptor and an opened channel disposed between the first and second inclined surfaces and extending transversely through the wear cap. The channel defines a continuously curvilinear transverse inner wall within the wear cap and is adapted to receive a correspondingly configured transversed rib formed on the adaptor such that upon transversely sliding of the wear cap over the rib, the first and second lower inclined surfaces abut the first and second portions of the adaptor and the forward tooth abutment surface of the wear cap is disposed substantially normal to the tooth. The tooth abutment surface defines a pair of locking projections thereon which are received in a pair of similarly configured channels formed in the base of the excavation tooth to interlock the tooth and wear cap and prevent relative lateral movement therebetween.

    摘要: A screen for separating solids and liquids is formed from parallel strips of wedge wire or similar material into a two-sided enclosure having the flat bases of the wedge wires oriented to contact dirty liquid. Unfiltered liquid containing solids contacts the screen surface on both sides of the enclosure, forming a passage for filtrate. A wedge wire screen may be bent back on itself to form a C-shape or may be a closed curve, still exposing only the flat sides of the wedge wires to the dirty liquid, and collection filtrate within the enclosure so formed. Filter units may be placed in a housing adapted to accommodate two or more in a substantially concentric relationship.

    摘要: A circuit for providing enhanced directivity in the form of a narrowed receive beam and a relatively small antenna with performance comparable to a much larger antenna at similar frequencies. Received signals are converted to digital values and stored in a manner which enables subsequent processing directed to improving the resolution of the received signals and to reduce the associated noise corresponding to the received data samples. The Signal-to-Noise ratio of the received data signals is improved as a result of processing techniques made possible by the configuration of the antenna and the digitally stored nature of the received data.
