A method for operating a user equipment (UE) adapted to transmit beacons includes adjusting an initial beacon interval between successively transmitted beacons in accordance with a value of at least one parameter and a beacon configuration received from a network entity, thereby producing an adjusted beacon interval, and transmitting a beacon selected in accordance with the adjusted beacon interval in a beacon transmission opportunity determined in accordance with the initial beacon interval.
Abstract:
Embodiments are provided for cross-polarized antennas design with different down tilt angles that support versatile functionality, such as for MIMO or beamforming. An embodiment antenna circuit comprises a baseband signal processor, a pair of RF transmitters coupled to the baseband signal processor, a pair of PAs coupled to the RF transmitters, a 90°/180° hybrid coupler coupled to the RF transmitters, a pair of duplexers and two antennas coupled to the PAs. The two antennas are down tilted at different down tilt angles. A pair of signals is generated using the baseband signal processor, transmitted by the RF transmitters, and amplified using the PAs. Additionally, a 90° or 180° phase difference is introduced into the signals using the 90°/180° hybrid coupler. After the amplifying and introducing the phase difference, the signals are polarized at two different polarizations and down tilted at different down tilt angles using the two antennas.
Abstract:
A method for operating a user equipment (UE) includes detecting an occurrence of an overheating condition in the UE, and based thereon, determining a first set of operating capabilities of the UE from a second set of operating capabilities of the UE, where the first and second set of operating capabilities are associated with a connection between the UE and a network entity, and where the first set of operating capabilities is a reduction in operating capability of the UE when compared to the second set of operating capabilities, triggering a transfer of UE capability information associated with the first set of operating capabilities, and applying, by the UE, the first set of operating capabilities to the connection.
Abstract:
An embodiment method for transmitting information between a user equipment (UE) and a transmission point (TP) is disclosed that includes transmitting, by the UE, a first message from the UE to the TP, the first message including a locally scoped user equipment ID (UE ID) and a request for random access. The UE receives a second message from the TP that includes a random access grant and the UE ID. The UE determines if the second message is directed to the UE by UE ID transmitted in the second message. The UE transmits a third message to the TP, the third message including a data burst.
Abstract:
A BS determines an amount of resource overloading for a contention transmission unit (CTU) access region associated with a grant-free uplink transmission scheme in a multiple access system. The BS determines a modulation and coding scheme (MCS) limit indicating a maximum MCS level for the CTU access region. The BS sends the MCS limit to a plurality of user equipments (UEs) associated with the first CTU access region. A UE receives from the base station the MCS limit and determines a first MCS index within the MCS limit for a first uplink transmission. The UE sends the first uplink transmission to the base station using a CTU in the CTU access region. The first uplink transmission includes user data and the first MCS index determined at the first UE.

Abstract:
Embodiments are provided for achieving multi-view video foreground-background segmentation with spatial-temporal graph cuts. A multi-view segmentation algorithm is used where a four-dimensional (4D) graph-cut is constructed by adding links across neighboring views over space and for consecutive frames over time. The segmentation uses both the color values of each input image and the image difference between the input image and the background image to obtain an initial graph-cut, before adding the temporal and spatial links. By using the background subtraction results as the initial segmentation seed, no user annotation is needed to perform multi-view segmentation.
