Abstract: An aqueous radiation curable dispersant formulation includes water and styrene acrylic resin stabilized thioxanthone derivative photoinitiator particles dispersed in the water. The styrene acrylic resin stabilized thioxanthone derivative photoinitiator particles have a volume-weighted mean diameter of less than 40 nm. The styrene acrylic resin stabilized thioxanthone derivative photoinitiator particles include a water-insoluble, thioxanthone derivative photoinitiator core having one, two, or three units, wherein a structure of the unit is: and x=2-12. When the water-insoluble, thioxanthone derivative photoinitiator core includes two units or three units, the units are covalently bonded together.

Abstract: The present disclosure is drawn to polyurethane dispersions. In one example, a polyurethane dispersion can include a polyurethane with a polymeric ionic side chain and a polymeric non-ionic side chain. The polyurethane can be formed of polymerized monomers including a diisocyanate, a first polymeric diol, and a second polymeric diol. The first polymeric diol can include a first polymer chain replacing a hydrogen atom of a thiol group of a 1-thioglycerol molecule. The first polymer chain can include a block of a polymerized ionic group-containing vinyl monomer. The second polymeric diol can include a second polymer chain replacing a hydrogen atom of a thiol group of a 1-thioglycerol molecule. The second polymer chain can include a block of a polymerized non-ionic vinyl monomer, and the second polymer chain can be devoid of ionic groups.

Abstract: An inkjet ink composition comprising a polyurethane-based binder dispersion is described. The polyurethane-based binder dispersion comprises: a polyurethane, which comprises: (A) a polyisocyanate; (B) a first polyol having a chain with two hydroxyl functional groups at one end of the chain and no hydroxyl groups at an opposed end of the chain; (C) a second polyol having a chain with two hydroxyl functional groups at both ends of the chain; (D) a carboxylic acid functional group with two hydroxyl functional groups; and (E) a compound shown in formula (1): m(M+)n(X)—R—Y— (1), wherein m is 0 or 1, M is a metal, n is 2 to 10, X is an amino group, R is a C1 to C18 alkyl group, a C6 to C30 aromatic compound or a C4 to C20 aliphatic cyclic compound, and Y is SO3- or SO3H, with the proviso that when m is 0, Y is SO3H and when m is 1, Y is SO3-.

Abstract: An example of a radiation curable binder dispersion for an inkjet ink includes water and a radiation curable polyurethane dispersed in the water. The radiation curable polyurethane has a weight average molecular weight that is equal to or less than 5,000, a glass transition temperature (Tg) less than 25° C., and a double bond density higher than 4.0. The radiation curable polyurethane binder dispersion is formed from a non-aromatic diisocyanate; a polyol; an acrylate or methacrylate, the acrylate or methacrylate having at least two hydroxyl functional groups and having an acrylate functional group or a methacrylate functional group; a compound including i) an ionic group or ii) a group to form an ionic group; and another acrylate or methacrylate, the other acrylate or methacrylate having a hydroxyl functional group or an amino functional group.
