Abstract: The present disclosure provides computer vision systems and methods for an aircraft. The computer vision systems and methods identify a runway based on video frame data from a camera mounted to the aircraft, extract runway pixel positions associated with the runway, determine the aircraft position in a real world coordinate frame based on the pixel positions, the aircraft position including an aircraft lateral position and an aircraft elevation, receive predefined aircraft position data and go-around rules for a compliant approach to the runway, calculate an aircraft position deviation based on the aircraft position and the predefined aircraft position data, determine whether the aircraft position deviation is in conformance with the go-around rules, and output an indication of conformity with the go-around rules.

Abstract: A system and method for operating a dynamic vertical situation display on an aircraft includes generating display data for a dynamic vertical situation display displayed on a display based upon flight plan data from a flight management system, where the flight plan data includes a plurality of waypoints and one or more phases of flight. A current phase of flight of the aircraft and a number of waypoints currenting displayed on the dynamic vertical situation display on the display is determined, and instructions to dynamically change a size of the dynamic vertical situation display on the display are generated based upon at least one of the number of waypoints currenting displayed on the display and the current phase of flight of the aircraft.

Abstract: A method for displaying objects in an aerial vehicle is disclosed. The method includes: determining if sensed objects or calculated virtual objects around the travel path of the aerial vehicle are within a field of view of a three-dimensional view in front of the aerial vehicle displayed on a display screen in the aerial vehicle; selecting, for each graphical object representing an object within the field of view of the three-dimensional view, a graphical object display size for the object, wherein the display size of an object is determined based on a non-linear projection per distance between the object and the view point that is scaled based on a continuous, non-linear scaling function, which causes the object to be displayed smaller at certain distances and larger at other distances than it would if linear scaling alone were applied; causing the display of the one or more graphical objects with the selected display size.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed that receiving ground traffic data from a traffic computer, and enhanced vision system, EVS, imaging data from at least one EVS camera. A target area is determined in the EVS imaging data based on position data of the ground traffic data. Graphics processing is performed that is confined to the target area to enhance visibility of ground traffic in the EVS imaging data in the target area, thereby generating enhanced EVS imaging data. The graphics processing is selected from at least one of contrast enhancement, edge detection and template matching and highlighting of an outline of the ground traffic. A display is generated that is to be displayed on the display device based on the enhanced EVS imaging data and the EVS imaging data.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a vertical takeoff and landing, VTOL, vehicle having a landing aid and associated methods. The landing aid includes at least one processor is configured to: receive image data from an image capture device, receive altitude data from the altimeter, retrieve template landing pad image data for a target landing pad from the database, scale the template landing pad image data based on the altitude data, compare the scaled template landing pad image data and the image data received from the image capture device to locate the target landing pad therein, thereby providing target landing pad localization data, and control a function of the VTOL vehicle based on the target landing pad localization data.

Abstract: A vehicle system and method are provided. The system includes a control module coupled to an imaging system and a display system. The control module receives position and location information of the aircraft, and processes that with map features to identify a landing location. The control module commands the display system to render on display system a landing image having thereon a sensor based visually enhanced area defined by a field of view (FOV) of first dimensions. The control module continually receives and processes visibility reports to determine the visibility at the landing location. When there is low visibility at the landing location, the control module reduces the FOV dimensions.

Abstract: Improved systems and methods for dynamic readouts on a primary flight display are provided. The system includes a computer system configured to receive and process aircraft status data and flight plan data to command a display system to overlay on the image, (i) an analog indicator of the airspeed, (ii) an analog indicator of altitude, (iii) a digital airspeed indicator, and (iv) a digital altitude indicator. The system continuously determines whether steady flight conditions are occurring. Steady flight conditions include one or both of: constant airspeed and constant rate of change of airspeed. When the steady flight conditions are occurring, (i) and (ii) are removed from the image. When the steady flight conditions are no longer occurring, (i) and (ii) again overlaid on the image.
