Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for indicating wake turbulence on an avionic display. The system comprises a display device that is onboard an aircraft and a controller in communication with the display device. The controller configured to, by a processor: receive data that includes information relating to a wake turbulence generated by another aircraft, determine a location on a runway of the wake turbulence based on the received data, and render a visual element on a display device onboard the aircraft that is in communication with the controller that is configured to display information relating the determined location on the runway of the wake turbulence, wherein the information is displayed in relation to a takeoff environment of the aircraft.

Abstract: Methods and systems of displaying weather data for a cockpit display system of an aircraft. The methods and systems include generating a display to include a first graphical map of real-time weather data from a weather radar. The display further includes a notification graphic associated with a portion of part of a displayed flight plan in which a significant weather condition exists. When the notification graphic is selected, the display includes the first graphical map of the real time weather data based on weather data from the weather radar and a second graphical map of significant weather conditions data derived from transmitted weather data.

Fault monitoring is performed by receiving first altitude data from the radar altitude device, receiving second altitude data from a second altitude measuring device, receiving terrain data from a terrain database, determining a fault condition threshold adaptively based on the terrain data, determining whether the radar altitude device is exhibiting a fault condition based on the first and second altitude data and the fault condition threshold, and outputting an indication of the fault condition based on the determination of whether the radar altitude device is exhibiting the fault condition.

Abstract: A controller for selectively displaying information from raster charts is disclosed. The controller is configured to: retrieve raster data; assign a different priority level to each of a plurality of types of raster data; cause raster data having a predetermined priority level to be displayed with first augmentation information and prevent from being displayed raster data not having the first predetermined priority level, wherein the first augmentation information comprises database data retrieved from a database and is assigned a first predetermined augmentation information priority level; generate a hidden layer of second augmentation information comprising database data from the database that is correlated to a geographical location of the displayed raster data and assigned a second predetermined augmentation information priority level; and cause the hidden layer of second augmentation information to be displayed over a portion of the displayed raster data when the geographical location is selected.

The processor generates instructions to highlight the identified feature on each other display system of the plurality of display systems at the determine location relative to data displayed on each other display system.

Abstract: Methods are provided for adjusting any correlation between a perspective of an onboard visual display and a current orientation of an inflight aircraft. The method comprises determining the current orientation of the inflight aircraft and determining the perspective of the visual display. The visual display is shown to a pilot of the inflight aircraft on a display element located onboard the inflight aircraft. The current orientation of the aircraft is compared with the perspective of the visual display to determine if the perspective of the visual display needs to transition to reflect the current orientation of the aircraft. If the display does need to be changed, a rate of transition of the visual display's perspective is selected based on current aircraft performance parameters. The perspective of the visual display is then transitioned to reflect the current orientation of the aircraft at the selected rate.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for generating an animated display for an aircraft. The method comprises receiving a user request for a change in a layer shown on a display that shows a view of the flight plan data for the aircraft. The user request is received by a user interface (UI) that is part of a map layer display system located onboard the aircraft. The system determines which specific layer corresponds to user request for a change to the display. When the user request is to add the layer to the display, the opaqueness of the layer increases from zero percent to one-hundred percent. When the user request is to remove the layer from the display, the opaqueness of the layer decreases from one-hundred percent to zero percent. Finally, the system generates instructions to display the layer at the opaqueness on the display.

Abstract: Improved systems and methods for dynamic readouts on a primary flight display are provided. The system includes a computer system configured to receive and process aircraft status data and flight plan data to command a display system to overlay on the image, (i) an analog indicator of the airspeed, (ii) an analog indicator of altitude, (iii) a digital airspeed indicator, and (iv) a digital altitude indicator. The system continuously determines whether steady flight conditions are occurring. Steady flight conditions include one or both of: constant airspeed and constant rate of change of airspeed. When the steady flight conditions are occurring, (i) and (ii) are removed from the image. When the steady flight conditions are no longer occurring, (i) and (ii) again overlaid on the image.

Abstract: Technologically improved vision systems and methods that provide enhanced water encoding are provided. The vision system receives terrain data from a terrain database and aircraft state data from a navigation system. The vision system commands a display system to display a map image that is reflective of a view from a current location of the platform. The vision system processes terrain data and aircraft state data to identify a water feature, determine a distance between the platform and the water feature, and determine a textural representation for the water feature. The textural representation comprises a symbol and an associated symbol pattern. The vision system commands a display system to overlay, on the map image, the water feature with the textural representation.
