摘要: A light emitting device is provided, in which a change of luminance of an OLED is suppressed and a desired color display can be stably performed even if an organic light emitting layer is somewhat deteriorated or an environmental temperature is varied. Separately from a pixel portion for displaying an image, a pixel portion for measuring a driving current of the OLED is provided in the light emitting device. The driving current is measured in the pixel portion for measuring the driving current of the OLED, and a value of the voltage supplied to the above two pixel portions from a variable power supply is corrected such that the measured driving current has a reference value. With the above-described structure, a reduction of the luminance accompanied with the deterioration of the organic light emitting layer can be suppressed. As a result, a clear image can be displayed.

摘要: A light emitting device is provided which is capable of displaying a high gradation image while preventing the drive frequency of a source signal line driving circuit from increasing. One pixel has a plurality of sub-pixels each having the same area of effective light emission. Sub-frame periods in each of the sub-pixels are all used to control the gradation of the corresponding pixel. The present light emitting device can operate as follows when, for example, adopting time gradation according to binary code. A sub-frame period for a specific bit is divided into a plurality of sub-frame periods, and a sub-frame period for another bit or a period in which no image is displayed (non-display period) is interspersed between the divided sub-frame periods, not successively starting the divided sub-frame periods. In a non-display period, light emitting, elements in all of the pixels in the pixel portion do not emit light.

摘要: A display device is reduced in size. Wiring lines are formed in a portion of a pixel substrate which is covered with a sealing member. The width of each of the wiring lines is set to a width that allows the sealing member on the wiring lines sufficient exposure to ultraviolet rays when the sealing member is irradiated with ultraviolet rays through the wiring lines. Instead of using one wide wiring line, a plurality of wiring lines each having a small width are connected in parallel to one another. The area the wiring lines around a pixel portion and a driving circuit occupy and the area the sealing member occupies are thus reduced in the display device, whereby the display device can be made smaller.

摘要: An active matrix light emitting device which is capable of clear color display of multiple gray scales and a driving method hereof is provided. The light emitting device has a pixel portion, and the pixel portion has a plurality of pixels. Each of the plurality of pixels has an EL element, a first EL driver TFT, a second EL driver TFT, a switching TFT, and an erasure TFT. The first EL driver TFT and the second EL driver TFT are connected in parallel. The method of driving the device includes inputting a digital video signal outputted from a source signal line driver circuit, and forming n write-in periods and (m−1) erasure periods within one frame period, wherein m is an arbitrary number from 2 to n, wherein display and non-display periods are specifically defined, and wherein the plurality of EL elements are selected to emit light or not to emit light in the display periods in accordance with the digital video signal.

摘要: There is provided a transmission circuit which can certainly perform transmission of data of digital form between two circuits operating in synchronization with two clock signals having the same frequency even if phase shift is generated between the two clock signals. According to a phase difference between a clock signal CK1 and a clock signal CK2, the transmission circuit performs either one of an operation of outputting pre-transmission digital data inputted to the transmission circuit as it is or after it is inverted, and an operation of sampling it in synchronization with the clock signal CK2 and outputting it as it is or after it is inverted.

Gradation display is performed in accordance with a time division driver method which controls by the amount of time an EL element formed in a pixel emits light, and the amount of time it does not emit light. Influence due to dispersion in the characteristics of electric current TFTs is prevented.

摘要: There is provided a light emitting device which is bright and has low electric power consumption and high reliability. A triplet EL element 203 electrically connected to a current controlling TFT 102 is provided in a pixel portion 201. A luminescent material used for the triplet EL element 203 has a feature that EL is obtained by triplet excitation, and exhibits high luminous efficiency at a low operation voltage as compared with the prior art. Accordingly, the operation is made at the low operation voltage, so that the light emitting device which is bright and has low electric power consumption and high reliability can be obtained.
