Abstract: A method according to embodiments of this application includes: A first network device sends a first packet to a second network device, where the first packet includes first indication information, and the first indication information indicates a support status of an iFIT capability corresponding to the first network device or a first service module included in the first network device. The first network device sends the packet to the second network device, to notify the support status of the IFIT capability of the first network device. In this way, the second network device can determine, based on the iFIT capability of the first network device, whether to encapsulate a measurement header, to avoid that a service packet cannot be correctly processed because the first network device cannot strip the measurement header from the service packet.

Abstract: An embodiment of a Network Virtualization Edge (NVE) device for transmitting packets receives a packet including a source address and a destination address. The NVE device obtains an active-active access configuration information list including a first entry and a second entry, where the first entry includes an identifier of a first active-active group, a Virtual Network Instance (VNI), and an identifier of the NVE device, and the second entry includes an identifier of a second active-active group, a VNI, and identifiers of at least two NVE devices that belong to the second active-active group. The NVE device obtains the VNI according to the identifier of the NVE device, searches for one active-active group corresponding to the VNI, selects a second NVE device from the at least two NVE devices; and encapsulates the packet using an identifier of the second NVE device and the VNI, and sends the packet.

Abstract: This application provides a forwarding path determining method and an apparatus. In determining a forwarding path, a second network device sends a routing update message to a first network device, where the routing update message carries a first identifier list, the first identifier list includes a binding segment identifier, and the first identifier list indicates a first forwarding path that is from the second network device to a third network device. By using the method, a second forwarding path from the first network device to the third network device is determined. According to the method provided in this application, when there is no controller or controllers cannot communicate with each other, routing advertisement of the binding end identifier is implemented, to determine a forwarding path. This helps simplify a packet forwarding control process.
