A cartridge, as the component, stores its ID (first information) and an ID (second information) of the image forming apparatus that can use the cartridge. The image forming apparatus stores its ID (third information) and an ID (fourth information) of the cartridge that can be used in the image forming apparatus. Then, when the fourth information includes the first information or the second information includes the third information, it is decided that the cartridge mounted in the image forming apparatus can be used. When the fourth information does not include the first information and the second information does not include the third information, it is decided that the cartridge mounted in the image forming apparatus cannot be used.

A driver continually moves the Fresnel lens or the diffusion member on a predetermined trajectory within a plane parallel with a screen. A spring member couples the Fresnel lens or the diffusion member with a casing, including a first deformation plane flexible in a first direction within the plane, and a second deformation plane flexible in a second direction substantially perpendicular to the first direction within the plane, while it is not flexible in a direction perpendicular to the plane.

    摘要: An image data processing apparatus receives trichromatic image data with values expressing red, green, and blue and generates information indicating the gamut of colors of the image data. The gamut information is obtained from maximum and minimum values, or values equivalent to the maximum and minimum values, pertaining to different color components during a prescribed time interval, and indicates the actual gamut of colors that appear during the prescribed time interval. The gamut information is appended to the image data, or output separately from the image data, for use in subsequent image processing.

    摘要: A field-sequential display apparatus having a light source that emits light of different colors in different subframes of an image controls the spectral distribution of the light emitted in each subframe according to characteristics of the input image data, or to ambient conditions or other user-specified conditions. The input image data are processed so that image colors are displayed correctly despite changes in the spectral distribution of the light-source colors. This scheme enables the gamut of reproducible colors to be altered from frame to frame to provide an appropriate balance between brightness and color saturation in each frame, and to compensate for ambient lighting conditions.

    摘要: A conventional color conversion apparatus was associated with a problem of generation of an achromatic component and reduction in the luminance.A color conversion apparatus according to the present invention generates new color data corresponding to color red of red, green and blue by means of matrix calculation using a first calculation term which is effective for just one of the hues of red, yellow, blue, green, cyan, magenta and yellow, and a second calculation term which is calculated from the first calculation term and which is effective for a predetermined inter-hue region included in at least one of inter-hue zones of red-yellow, yellow-green, green-cyan, cyan-magenta, and magenta-red, so that color conversion can be achieved without generation of an unnecessary achromatic component or reduction in the luminance.

    摘要: Responsive to image data of three colors, six hue data are obtained, and then first comparison-result data and second-order terms each relating to one of the six hues, and second comparison-result data each relating to one of the six inter-hue areas are obtained. Matrix calculation is performed on the first comparison-result data, the second comparison-result data, and the second-order terms, using coefficients. By varying the coefficients, adjustment can be made to only the target hue or inter-hue area, without affecting other hues and inter-hue areas. Thus, the six hues and six inter-hue areas can be varied independently, and the large-capacity memory is not required. In addition, gray scale conversion is applied to the result of the matrix calculation, so as to compensate for the non-linearity of the output device.
