    摘要: In the aging process performed by applying a voltage having an alternating voltage component between a scan electrode and a sustain electrode, an erase discharge occurs in succession to an aging discharge. According to the aging method, an erase discharge-suppressing voltage is applied to at least any one of the scan electrode, the sustain electrode, and the data electrode. Although the erase discharge repeatedly occurs in the wake of the aging discharge, the erase discharge-suppressing voltage suppresses the ones that occur when the scan electrode has voltage level higher than the sustain electrode.

    摘要: A plasma display panel capable of realizing improvement in the characteristics thereof, such as lower discharge voltage, more stable discharge, higher luminance, higher efficiency, and longer life. During a step of sealing the periphery of substrates or before this sealing step, impurity gas other then inert gas is adsorbed by phosphor layers. The impurity gas is released into discharge gas and the impurity is added to the discharge gas in a controlled manner while the panel is lit. This method can realize improvement in characteristics, such as lower discharge voltage, higher luminance, higher efficiency, and longer life.

    摘要: In the aging process in which a voltage having an alternate voltage component is applied to at least between scan electrode (5) and sustain electrode (6) so as to form a discharge dent (sputter dent) on the protecting layer, the aging discharge dent is formed so as to satisfy any one of the followings. Firstly, the discharge dent on the scan electrode-side has a width narrower than the discharge dent on the side of sustain electrode (6). Secondly, the discharge dent on the side of sustain electrode (6) is formed so that the depth of the discharge dent in the area away from scan electrode (5) paired with sustain electrode (6) as a display electrode is shallower than the depth of the discharge dent in the area close to counterpart scan electrode (5).

    摘要: An electron gun for a color picture tube comprises opposing cup-shaped electrodes each having a plurality of openings laterally aligned in a row, the electrodes being combined such that the openings face each other to form electron lenses. The openings are formed in flat bottom walls of said electrodes, a width of a bridge portion between adjacent openings is 0.5 to 1.5 times a thickness of the bottom wall of each electrode, and corrective plate electrodes are arranged to oppose bridge portions with a predetermined distance therefrom. The electrodes are combined such that spherical aberration of said electron lenses as a whole can be reduced when one of the electrodes is applied with a voltage which is higher than that applied to the other.

    摘要: A method for producing an electrode structure for use in an electron gun, especially an in-line type electrode structure for use an electron gun of a color picture tube. The electrode structure dispenses with auxiliary electrodes by forming its three cylindrical members integrally by press work. After the pressing step, the inner edge of the bottom portion of each of the cylindrical members is beveled to provide a tapering surface having a desired circular cross section. By forming a circular groove in the bottom portion, opposite to the tapering surface, the formation of the tapering surface is made more exact.
