    摘要: A telecommunications switching system (1) has a switch unit (2) having switches (9) controlled by local modules (10). These modules implement instructions which are either in-build or are received from remote modules (20) on machines (6, 7, 8) which communicate via a central router (3). This allows almost unlimited processing scalability and versatility. An application object base (21) has an object corresponding directly to a local module (10) or a subset thereof and a signal base (22) provides signal-level commands understood by the local module (10). A signal transfer function (23) on the remote machine (6), and a signal transfer function (11) on the switch unit (2) provide for direct transfer of signals in both directions. There is no need to modify the local modules (10) as the signal transfer function (11) is addressable as a local module and the remote aspect of the interaction is transparent to the local modules (10).

Either the inner facing side or the outer facing side includes a second pocket for receiving a piece of protective material, and the first pocket and the second pocket overlap each other. A connector at an edge of each panel connects the plurality of panels to form, with the base, an enclosure that completely encloses and seals the vehicle within the covering. The enclosure protects the vehicle from both water damage and the impact of floating or flying debris.

The retractable shelter includes a sheet of flexible material capable of being rolled up into a retracted position; and a storage compartment capable of storing the sheet of flexible material rolled up into the retracted position. The storage compartment is attachable along and near a bottom edge of a slideout compartment of a recreational vehicle. Doors can also be attached to the extended sheet of flexible material underneath the slideout compartment. The sheet of flexible material can also be extended in a horizontal direction to support poles.

    摘要: An apparatus and method are provided for digitally controlling an oxygen sensor. The apparatus comprises a computer and digital circuitry coupled to the oxygen sensor to convey information between the oxygen sensor and the computer. The oxygen sensor includes a pump cell and at least one Nernst cell configured to indicate the difference in oxygen content in a test medium relative to a reference medium. A pump control circuit operates the pump cell according to signals received from the computer based on output signals from the Nernst cell. A reference voltage circuit enables the computer to determine impedances of the oxygen sensor as a function of sensor temperature and pressure. A Nernst read circuit transmits output signals from the oxygen sensor digitally to the computer. Digital signals received by the computer are compared with stored reference information so as to determine the oxygen content of the test medium.

    摘要: A machine for automatically orienting railroad tie plates includes a sensing region having at least one optical sensor adapted to sense a physical feature of a tie plate.     摘要: Novel photochromic and electrochromic hexadiene compounds are described. The compounds are reversibly convertible between ring-open and ring-closed isomeric forms as indicated in structures I(o) and I(c) below. (See formula in original abstract of application) The conversion between the different isomeric forms may be induced by light or electricity. In one embodiment the compounds may include a charge transfer moiety including electron donor and acceptor groups. The electron donor and acceptor are linearly conjugated in the ring-open form to enable electron transfer but are electrically insulated in the ring-closed form. Methods for synthesizing the compounds from photochemically and/or electrically inert precursors are also described. For example, the photoresponsive compounds may be synthesized by reacting diene precursors with dienophiles in a condensation reaction. The compounds may be utilized in reactivity-gated photochromic or electrochromic applications. In one embodiment of the invention, compounds of the invention may be used in a method to selectively release a releasable agent, such as a small molecule. According to this method, a photochemically inert precursor compound is reacted with the releasable agent to form a carrier compound comprising a switching moiety, the switching moiety being reversibly convertible between a thermally unstable form and a thermally stable form. The switching moiety may be selectively converted between the first and second forms to cause controlled release of the releasable agent from the carrier compound.
