Abstract: A communication system is disclosed in which a communication device establishes and engages in Voice over LTE (VoLTE) communication via a communication connection with a base station. The communication device obtains information indicating at least one criterion for determining whether VoLTE communication via the communication connection with the base station can be sustained. The communication device performs signal measurements for signals received from the base station and determines whether VoLTE communication via the communication connection with the base station can be sustained based on whether or not the signal measurements meet the at least one criterion.

Abstract: A system is disclosed in which a mobile communication device establishes device-to-device (D2D) communication with another mobile communication device, and searches for a communication network whilst engaged in the D2D communication. When it finds a communication network, the mobile communication device indicates that it is engaged in the D2D communication. The mobile communication device continues, or does not continue, the D2D communication based on an authorisation by the communication network.

Abstract: A system is provided in which a user device communicates control data with a first base station and communicates user data with a second base station. The user device receives, from the first base station, configuration data specific to the first base station and configuration data specific to the second base station for configuring the user device to handle in-device coexistence interference. When the user device detects interference, it identifies the base station to which the interference relates, and controls the operating of its transceiver circuitry: i) using the first base station specific configuration data if it identifies that the interference is related to the first base station; and ii) using the second base station specific configuration data if it identifies that the interference is related to the second base station.

Abstract: A communications system is described in which a communication device is able to communicate with a base station via a first communication path and with an access node via a second communication path. The communication device provides to the base station an indication of whether or not the communication device is enabled to use the second communication path.
