Abstract: Systems, methods, apparatuses, and computer program products for supporting a narrow serving beam in a hierarchical beam configuration. For example, certain embodiments may provide a UE that may receive, from a network node, information of a quasi co-location (QCL) configuration of self-contained, aperiodic, and/or semi-persistent tracking reference signals (TRSs) for sub-beams, where a source for one or more TRSs may be channel state information (CSI-RS) without repetition. In addition, the UE may determine these TRSs as self-contained, for which there are no associated periodic TRSs, if there is a TRS configured for an SSB sub-beam.

Abstract: Various communication systems may benefit from improved cell selection. For example, it may be helpful to improve cell selection in new radio systems based on individual synchronization signal blocks meeting specific thresholds. A method may include measuring at a user equipment a cell quality of one or more cells. The method may also include detecting at the user equipment synchronization signal blocks in the one or more cells. In addition, the method may include determining at the user equipment that the synchronization signal blocks do not meet a random access channel resource selection threshold. Further, the method may include selecting at the user equipment only random access channel resources that correspond to the synchronization signal blocks meeting a cell selection threshold.

Abstract: In accordance with example embodiments of the invention there is at least a method and apparatus to perform determining by a user equipment that the user equipment has missed, or will miss, at least one power saving signal monitoring occasion, where the user equipment is configured to monitor a power saving signal in a first bandwidth part; and based upon the determination that the user equipment has missed, or will miss, the at least one power saving signal monitoring occasion, causing the user equipment to monitor a physical downlink control channel on the first bandwidth part during an on-duration of discontinuous reception. To perform configuring a user equipment to monitor a power saving signal in a first bandwidth part; causing the user equipment to monitor a physical downlink control channel on the first bandwidth part during an on-duration of discontinuous reception; and based upon the causing of the user equipment to monitor the physical downlink control channel on the first bandwidth part during the on-duration of discontinuous reception, causing the on-duration of discontinuous reception-cycle to be reduced relative to a previous on-duration of discontinuous reception. And to perform determining by a user equipment that an inactivity timer has expired during an on-duration of discontinuous reception-cycle after a user equipment wake up has been triggered, where the user equipment is configured to report periodic channel status information (CSI) feedback on the on-duration of discontinuous reception-cycle and based upon the determination that the inactivity timer has expired during the on-duration of discontinuous reception-cycle after the user equipment wake up has been triggered, causing the user equipment to monitor a physical downlink control channel for the on-duration of discontinuous reception.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing multi-beam downlink channel control procedures. The invention allows for power savings at a user device by indicating what states are to be used and/or indicating deactivation of receiver panels. This is accomplished, at least partially, through the use of a transmission configuration indication table based, at least partially, on measurements made by a user device and panel tags indicating the panels used to make those measurements. Determining optimal downlink and uplink beam selection is accomplished with reference to user device measurements and reporting.
