Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A wireless device communicating critical or latency sensitive information may determine that a transmission has failed in a shared radio frequency (RF) spectrum band. The device may then transmit a silencing signal in a managed RF spectrum band, and switch to communicating in the managed band. Other wireless devices communicating with the first device may receive the silencing signal and may also switch to the managed RF spectrum band. Based on the silencing signal, user equipments (UEs) not associated with the critical communications and operating in the managed band may suspend transmissions, although they may still receive downlink (DL) data.

Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are described. The apparatus wirelessly transmits a reservation signal intended for a plurality of receivers for scheduling a broadcast/multicast data transmission, monitors for a confirmation signal from at least one of the plurality of receivers, wirelessly transmits the broadcast/multicast data transmission to the plurality of receivers if the confirmation signal is received, and suppresses transmission of the broadcast/multicast data to the plurality of receivers if the confirmation signal is not received. In some embodiments, the apparatus further determines at least one of a number of received confirmation signals or a signal strength of a received confirmation signal from the at least one of the plurality of receivers, and suppresses transmission of the broadcast/multicast data based on the determined at least one of the number of received confirmation signals or the signal strength of the received confirmation signal.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for using a monitoring application to measure channel state information during idle cycles in a mission-critical application. A first wireless communication device determines whether there is a mission-critical data packet to be transmitted to a second wireless communication device. If not, the first wireless communication device determines whether a monitoring packet should be transmitted to the second wireless communication device. If the first wireless communication device determines a monitoring packet should be sent, the first wireless communication devices transmits a monitoring packet containing an identifier and a reference signal to the second wireless communication device.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for managing a multimedia broadcast multicast service (MBMS). In one configuration, service announcement information for at least one MBMS may be received. At least a subset of the service announcement information may be broadcast in a peer discovery signal. Content of the at least one MBMS may then be relayed to at least one mobile device operating outside a coverage area of a base station. In another configuration, an out-of-coverage status indicator or MBMS query may be broadcast in a first peer discovery signal, and a second peer discovery signal may be received from at least one MBMS relay device. The second peer discovery signal may include at least a subset of service announcement information for at least one MBMS.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. In one method, a source access node (AN) of a local area network (LAN) may receive, over a first connection, a set of fast transition (FT) parameters pertaining to authentication. The source AN may cache the set of FT parameters, and forward the set of FT parameters to a target AN of the LAN during a handover procedure. The source AN may receive, from the target AN, a set of security parameters associated with secure communication between the wireless device and the target AN, the set of security parameters based at least in part on the set of FT parameters. The source AN may subsequently transmit to the wireless device, over the first connection, a command to perform a handover to the target AN, the command including the set of security parameters.

A user equipment (UE) may establish a packet data network (PDN)-connectivity session to a PDN using a cellular radio access technology (RAT) and migrate the PDN-connectivity session from a source access node (AN) to a target AN. Migration may initiate when a decision to perform a handover is made. The target AN may receive a network address and information about a first data radio link established between the UE and source AN. The target AN may establish a second data radio link with the UE based at least in part on the first data radio link information, and may transmit, to the PDN, a path update including the network address and an updated path via the target AN. In some cases, the target AN may forward packets between the UE and the PDN via the second data radio link.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may act as a relay device and receive a message from a source device. The message may include a latency indicator. The UE may identify a delay-tolerance metric associated with the message based on the latency indicator. The UE may identify, for each air interface of a set of air interfaces, a cost metric associated with transmitting the message. The UE may select an air interface from the set of air interfaces based on the delay-tolerance metric and the cost metric. The UE may transmit the message to a destination device on the selected air interface.
