Abstract: A patient interface structure for delivery of respiratory therapy to a patient includes a front plate configured to conform to the shape of the patient's face; a mouth cushion defining a breathing chamber and provided to the front plate and configured to seal around the patient's mouth; and a nasal cushion configured to seal the patient's nasal airways. The nasal cushion is supported by the mouth cushion, does not contact a bridge of the patient's nose in use, and extends at least partially into the breathing chamber. A patient interface system includes a patient interface structure and a patient interface structure positioning system configured to position, stabilize and secure the patient interface structure in sealing engagement with the patient's face.

Abstract: A breathing arrangement includes a patient interface, at least one inlet conduit, and a headgear assembly. The patient interface includes a mouth covering assembly including a cushion structured to sealingly engage around exterior of a patient's mouth in use, a nozzle assembly including a pair of nozzles structured to sealingly engage within nasal passages of a patient's nose in use, and a flexible element connecting the mouth covering assembly and the nozzle assembly. The at least one inlet conduit is structured to deliver breathable gas into at least one of the mouth covering assembly and the nozzle assembly for breathing by the patient. The headgear assembly is removably connected to at least one of the mouth covering assembly and the nozzle assembly so as to maintain the mouth covering assembly and the nozzle assembly in a desired position on the patient's face.

Abstract: A method of manufacturing a patient interface for sealed delivery of a flow of air at a continuously positive pressure with respect to ambient air pressure to an entrance to the patient's airways includes collecting anthropometric data of a patient's face. Anticipated considerations are identified from the collected anthropometric data during use of the patient interface. The collected anthropometric data is processed to provide a transformed data set based on the anticipated considerations, the transformed data set corresponding to at least one customised patient interface component. At least one patient interface component is modelled based on the transformed data set.

Abstract: A respiratory mask assembly for delivering breathable gas to a patient includes a frame and a cushion. The cushion has a non-face contacting portion structured to be connected to the frame, a face-contacting portion structured to engage the patient's face, and a central portion that interconnects the non-face contacting portion and the face contacting portion. The frame may be structured to allow a forehead support to assume multiple positions, to compensate for replacement cushions that may have a different profile, shape or size. The cushion is structured to compensate for variations in strap tension, treatment pressure and/or movement of the patient. Headgear may be provided with a strap assembly in which one or more straps is provided with selectively adjustable elasticity or extensibility that may be automatically changed in dependence of treatment pressure and/or treatment type.

Abstract: A respiratory mask assembly for treatment of sleep disordered breathing includes a frame, a cushion which at least in part defines a cavity adapted to receive at least a patient's nose, and an air delivery connection supported by the frame and adapted to connect an air delivery conduit to supply air to the cavity. The cushion includes a face contacting portion, a non-face contacting portion, and a gusset portion between the face contacting portion and the non-face contacting portion. The gusset portion includes a first point adjacent to the face contacting portion and a second point adjacent to the non-face contacting portion, and the first point is offset radially outwardly from the second point.

Abstract: A patient interface includes a hollow base with an air inlet configured to be connected to an air delivery tube and receive the pressurized flow of respiratory gas. The hollow base further includes a pair of nozzles extending from the hollow base. Each nozzle is configured to receive the pressurized flow of respiratory gas from a respective one of the pair of air outlets. A continuous flexible adhesive strip of material configured to adhere to a side of the patient's nose and support the hollow base and the pair of nozzles on the patient's face to form a sealed airpath from the hollow base to the patient's nasal airways. The hollow base comprises a first portion from which the pair of nozzles extend and a second portion that is attachable to the air delivery tube. The second portion is more rigid than the first portion.
