摘要: A sealing arrangement for forming a seal between a patient's face and a patient interface device for use in delivering a flow of a treatment gas to the patient includes a generally planar substrate body having a first side and an opposite second side. The substrate body includes a main portion having an opening defined therethrough that is sized and configured to encompass the mouth and nose of the patient. The sealing arrangement further includes a first adhesive layer disposed on the first side of the substrate body and a second adhesive layer disposed on the second side of the substrate body. The first adhesive layer is sized and configured to adhere to the skin of the patient with a first adherence force and the second adhesive layer is sized and configured to adhere to a cushion of the patient interface device with a lesser second adherence force.

摘要: A heat and moisture exchanger (HME) for engaging a patient's nose while retrofit into a plenum chamber of a patient interface. The HME includes a frame configured to couple to a ridge of the patient's nose, and a cradle coupled to the frame. The cradle is configured to be positioned proximate to the patient's nares. The HME also includes an HME material coupled to the cradle. The HME material is configured to retain moisture exhaled by the patient. Air is configured to pass through the HME material when entering and exiting the patient's nares. The HME engages and is secured to the patient's nose independently of any other structure.

摘要: An embodiment of the disclosure provides a universal sealing apparatus for one or more cannulas. The apparatus includes a first portion, a second portion, and a third portion. The first and second portions are configured to removably adhere directly or indirectly to a nose. The third portion is coupled to the first and second portions. The third portion removably couples to one or more cannulas and places a force upon a base of flared portions of the one or more cannulas when the first and second portions are adhered to the nose. The force maintains a fluid seal of the one or more cannulas within one or more respective nostrils of the nose.

摘要: A system for reducing airway obstructions of a patient may include a ventilator, a control unit, a gas delivery circuit with a proximal end in fluid communication with the ventilator and a distal end in fluid communication with a nasal interface, and a nasal interface. The nasal interface may include at least one jet nozzle, and at least one spontaneous respiration sensor in communication with the control unit for detecting a respiration effort pattern and a need for supporting airway patency. The system may be open to ambient. The control unit may determine more than one gas output velocities. The more than one gas output velocities may be synchronized with different parts of a spontaneous breath effort cycle, and a gas output velocity may be determined by a need for supporting airway patency.

摘要: A method for treating a breathing condition includes providing a face strip having an adhesive layer and a mesh layer disposed on the adhesive layer and applying the adhesive layer to a mouth of a patient diagnosed with a breathing condition including at least one of a dry mouth, a sore throat, nasal congestion, or hypoxia. The method further includes covering the patient's mouth with the face strip and providing resistance from the face strip at the patient's mouth, and increasing nasal respiration with the face strip. The face strip reduces or prevents the incidence of the breathing condition.

摘要: A nasal interface uses asymmetrical nasal delivery elements to deliver an asymmetrical flow through the interface to both nares or to either nare, and a mouthpiece may be inserted to maintain a leak, to improve dead space clearance in the upper airways, decrease peak expiratory pressure, reduce noise, increase safety of the therapy for smaller patients and reduce resistance in the interface allowing desired flow rates to be achieved at reduced motor speeds of associated flow generating devices. Different forms of fittings, such as sleeves or inserts can be attached to nasal delivery elements to improve or optimize the therapeutic effects of nasal high flow. It may allow high pressures to be achieved at lower flow rates, reduce noise, improve patient comfort and efficiently clear anatomical dead space.
