摘要： A safety device for roll forming apparatus that has a pair of oppositely rotating pressure rollers with parallel axes and peripheral cylindrical surfaces which define between them a gripping and contact gap. The safety device comprises a pair of safety rollers located rearwardly of the pressure rollers and having peripheral portions spaced apart a distance greater than the gap between the pressure rollers and means for rotating the safety rollers in a rearward direction with respect to the pressure rollers in order to engage and reject foreign articles placed between the safety rollers.

摘要： A refillable column for chromatography at elevated pressure is described comprised of a cylinder connected on both ends to a coupling having internal threads and an annular shoulder at the internal terminus of the threads. A plug having external threads is disposed in said coupling and sealed against the shoulder of the coupling. An axial hole communicates between the top and bottom of the plug. The column can be packed, emptied and repacked repeatedly.

摘要： This invention relates to a fastener driving device including a variable ratio gear mechanism that enables the ratio of the rotation of the handle to the rotation of a driving bit extending from the handle to be varied to allow the bit to rotate at different speeds from the handle. The device includes a gear mechanism disposed within a housing for the device that includes a locking member. The locking member can be engaged with the gear mechanism to lock the gear mechanism in a configuration for a 1:1 gear ratio. The locking member can be moved with regard to the gear mechanism to provide an increased gear ratio for the gear mechanism when desired.

摘要： This invention relates to a fastener driving device including a variable ratio gear mechanism that enables the ratio of the rotation of the handle to the rotation of a driving bit extending from the handle to be varied to allow the bit to rotate at different speeds from the handle. The device includes a gear mechanism disposed within a housing for the device that includes a locking member and a biasing member. The biasing member urges the locking member into engagement with the gear mechanism to lock the gear mechanism in a configuration for a 1:1 gear ratio. A selector switch is secured to the device over the gear mechanism and is operable to move the locking member into and out of engagement with the planetary gears against the bias of the biasing member to provide an increased gear ratio for the gear mechanism when desired.

摘要： A coupling for joining metal pipes or pipe sections end-to-end to form a pipe assembly. A plastic cuff is formed on one of the pipe ends and a mating, second plastic cuff is formed on the other pipe end. In one embodiment, a wire hoop is mounted over each pipe end, the hoops are rotatable around the associated pipe ends to align the hoops, and bolt assemblies spanning the two hoops are used to tighten the hoops axially, to thereby clamp the pipe ends and compress the cuffs between the pipe ends and provide a leak-proof joint. The cuffs are selected from configurations including tongue-and-groove and bell-and-spigot. The cuffs can be formed on the pipe ends in the shop, then the pre-cuffed pipe sections can be readily assembled into stable, leak-proof, corrosion-resistant lengths of pipe in the field.

摘要： A hacksaw of the type utilizing an elongated blade maintained tension between respective legs of the saw frame includes a cam-actuated blade tensioning mechanism. One leg of the saw frame includes a fixed blade pin for receipt through a mounting hole defined at one end of the elongated blade. The other leg of the saw frame includes a pin carrier having a blade pin for receipt through the mounting hole defined at the other end of the elongated blade. The pin carrier is pivotal between a blade release position and a blade securement position. In presently preferred embodiments, the pin carrier defines a cam follower engaging an elliptically arcuate cam surface defined on a pivotal actuator member. The actuator member may have a lever portion for providing mechanical advantage during its pivotal movement. A releasable lock mechanism is provided to maintain the actuator member, and thus the pin carrier, in the blade securement position during use. Preferably, the releasable lock mechanism is configured to require the simultaneous occurrence of two events in order to permit release of the blade.
