摘要: In at least one embodiment of the present invention, a method of recovering energy from a FCC unit having a reactor and a regenerator for overall CO2 reduction is provided. The method comprises cooling syngas to a predetermined low temperature to define cooled syngas. A turbo-expander including a first compressor is provided. The turbo-expander train is configured to combust and expand gas to drive the first compressor. The cooled syngas is compressed with the first compressor to define compressed syngas. A first stream of gas comprising CO2 and a second stream of gas comprising CO are separated from the compressed syngas. O2 and the first and second streams of gas are introduced to the turbo-expander train. The first stream of gas is expanded and the second stream of gas is combusted and expanded with the O2 to recover energy, driving the first compressor and producing the syngas.

摘要: A baffle-style stripping arrangement for an FCC process having substantially horizontal stripping baffles is disclosed. The stripping baffles comprise a perforated section and a downcomer section which generates transverse movement of catalyst across the baffle to ensure adequate vertical movement of stripping media. The perforated section is covered with stripping openings to provide improved stripping efficiency and catalyst flux through the stripping vessel. The perforated section may comprise a grate. Baffles may also include an imperforate section which is vertically aligned with a downcomer section of a superjacent baffle.

摘要: A fluid feed distributor improves particle and feed contacting by using a flow actuated plug to prevent back flow of fluidizable particles through a fluid feed outlet when fluid feed to a riser conduit ceases. The plug is located at or near the bottom of a riser contacting conduit where a back flow of particles can occur. The plug drops into the fluid feed outlet when fluid flow stops. The plug and a supporting stem will usually have an at least partially vertical orientation to provide the preferred gravity closure of the flow actuated plug. The plug arrangement can also provide improved feed distribution. Preferably the fluid actuated plug will act in conjunction with a fluid dispersion device. The dispersion device may be located upstream in a feed conduit that houses the plug and a fluid outlet at its downstream end. In addition, the fluid actuated plug can also serve to adjust the dispersion of feed fluid during operation of the unit. The restricted opening that receives the plug may comprise a spray nozzle that further improves feed dispersion. A restricted opening in the form of a venturi offers particularly advantageous feed distribution benefits when cooperatively arranged with the plug.

摘要: The invention improves a system and apparatus for the recovery of fine solid particles entering the slurry system of a fluidized catalytic contacting process by returning a portion of the recovered solids from the main separator directly back to the reactor stripper. The invention recovers fine particulate material from an FCC main column and returns the particulate material to an FCC stripper to reduce the amount of fine material that continues to recycle through the FCC reactor and product separator. By returning fine particulate material from the FCC product separation zone directly to a low velocity area of the stripping section, the invention breaks the reactor--main column recycle loop that concentrates the fines. Fines entering the reactor stripper will not be carried back into the cyclones for unwanted return to the main column. By the recycling of fines to the stripper via this invention, the fines concentration in the slurry system can decrease by up to 300%.

摘要: An FCC feed injection arrangement injects feed transversely from the sides of a restricted opening into a stream of FCC catalyst to provide good feed and catalyst contacting in an arrangement that simplifies external pipe configurations and maintenance of the feed injection system. The invention forms a venturi or restricted opening by forming a generally square opening between two parallel extended chords on opposite sides of the riser. A venturi area may be built out of refractory lining or other abrasion resistant structures. The invention may use horizontally extended pipes that are tangentially positioned apart from each other across from the restricted opening to provide a simple construction for the feed injection arrangement. The pipes are easily inserted and withdrawn from the riser to permit easy maintenance of the nozzles in the highly erosive environment. Insertable pipe distributors for distributing feed may be arranged to provide good overall distribution while also providing cooling to the outer surface of the distribution conduit to prevent coking. The distribution conduit may also be arranged to provide mixing of oil and steam near the injection point of the nozzles.

摘要: An apparatus for the separation of mixtures of liquids and finely divided suspended particles to produce a liquid product stream having a reduced concentration of finely divided suspended particles. The apparatus uses a generally vertical separator vessel having a feed inlet distributor located in a lower locus of the vessel which directs the feed mixture in an upward direction in order to initially flow through a multiplicity of vertical and intersecting baffles located in the upper locus of the vessel and then to flow through a horizontal baffle having a multiplicity of holes to allow passage of the liquid and located above and adjacent to the vertical baffles.

摘要: A process for improving flow properties of crude may include processing a first crude stream, which may in turn include cracking the first crude stream with fresh catalyst to form a cracked stream and spent catalyst, and then mixed with an unprocessed second stream. The spent catalyst may be regenerated to form fresh catalyst, which may then be recycled. At least part of the cracked stream may be mixed with a second crude stream. A ratio of the second crude stream to the first crude stream may be between about 0.5:1 and about 9:1. A ratio of part of the cracked stream to add to the second crude stream may be selected to achieve a API gravity of at least about 18. The first crude stream may be heated and stripped before being cracked.
