The life and activity of the catalyst composition may be increased by introducing a decomposable metal compound selected from the group consisting of the metals of Group V-B, Group VI-B, Group VII-B and Group VIII of the Periodic Table into the hydrocarbon containing feed stream prior to contacting the hydrocarbon containing feed stream with the catalyst composition.

    摘要: An improved process for removing metals from heavy oils and other hydrocarbon feed streams is disclosed. The process includes adding phosphorus sulfide to the hydrocarbon feed stream under suitable demetallizing conditions. It is believed that phosphorus sulfide reacts with the metals contained in the hydrocarbon containing feed stream to form oil insoluble compounds that can be removed from the hydrocarbon containing feed stream by any conventional method, such as filtration, centrifugation, or decantation.

    摘要: A process and catalyst are provided for hydrogenation of a hydrocarbon feedstock consisting essentially of material boiling between about 150.degree. F. and about 700.degree. F. which comprises reacting the feedstock with hydrogen at hydrogenation conditions in the presence of a catalyst comprising hydrogenation metals and a support comprising zeolite Y. The hydrogenation metals comprise from about 0.1 percent to about 2.0 percent by weight each of palladium and platinum calculated as a percentage of the catalyst. The zeolite Y further comprises sodium in an amount ranging from about 1.5 to about 8.0 percent of the zeolite Y by weight. The process of the present invention provides substantially improved dearomatization performance, increased desulfurization and denitrogenation, increased distillate product cetane number, and increased distillate volume expansion.

    摘要: A process, catalyst, and method of making a catalyst are provided for the selective hydrotreating of a selective hydrotreating feedstock comprising reacting the feedstock with hydrogen at hydrotreating conditions in the presence of a catalyst comprising a hydrogenation component and a support component. The hydrogenation component comprises a Group VIB metal component and a Group VIII metal component wherein the Group VIB metal component is present in an amount ranging from about 4 wt % to about 20 wt % and the Group VIII metal component is present in an amount ranging from about 0.5 wt % to about 10 wt %, both calculated as oxides and based on the total catalyst weight. The support component comprises from about 0.5 wt % to about 50 wt % of a magnesium component and from about 0.02 wt % to about 10 wt % of an alkali metal component, both calculated as oxides and based on the total catalyst weight. The present invention provides a process, catalyst, and method of making a catalyst resulting in higher selective hydrotreating feedstock octane at high levels of desulfurization, among numerous other benefits.

    摘要: A composition of matter is prepared by a process comprising the steps of impregnating a alumina-containing support material with a thiocyanate compound (preferably ammonium thiocyanate), drying the thus impregnated material, impregnating the dried material with a transition metal compound, drying and calcining the transition metal impregnated material. This composition of matter is used as catalyst composition for hydrotreating of hydrocarbon-containing feed streams (in particular heavy oils) which contain metal and sulfur compounds as impurities.In another embodiment, a hydrotreating process comprises contacting hydrocarbon-containing feed stream (in particular heavy oils), which contains compounds of sulfur and metals, in the presence of a fixed catalyst bed comprising at least one layer (X) of impregnated substantially spherical alumina-containing particles which have been prepared by a process comprising the steps of impregnating a specific starting material with NH.sub.4 SCN and then heating the thus impregnated material at about 500.degree.-900.degree. C. for improved crush strength retention. In a preferred embodiment, the fixed catalyst bed further comprises at least one layer (Y) of catalyst particles comprising a refractory inorganic carrier and at least one hydrogenation promoter. A composition of matter comprising the impregnated, spherical alumina-containing particles described above, and a process for preparing them are also provided.
