    摘要: The present invention provides a method and apparatus for sanitizing a device, such as an endoscope, having a lumen. The method comprises a) providing a container possessing two or more openings, and a flexible, gas-impermeable pouch that surrounds the container; b) placing the device into the container; c) applying a reduced pressure to the container and pouch, thereby causing the pouch to collapse around the container and form at least one interface separating the container into two or more compartments, which interface is formed under reduced pressure by the adherence of the pouch onto itself and around part of a surface of the device, through openings in the container, such that one end of the device is located in one of the compartments and the other end is in another compartment; and d) generating a flow of a sanitizing solution through the lumen to sanitize the inner surface of the device.

    摘要: A new method is proposed where a limited amount of MBTH is used to detect a point of interest (POI) of an aldehyde in a test sample. Preferably, it reacts with aldehyde first to form an azine. Only if there is remaining MBTH, it is oxidized to another species which combines with the azine to form formazan. However, if there is enough aldehyde, all the MBTH is converted to azine and there is no formation of blue color. Thus, by using the limiting agent MBTH to test the amount of aldehyde around the point of interest, then less aldehyde would produce more blue color and more aldehyde would produce less blue color. This method is especially useful in the quality control of aldehyde products. The end color may be different depending upon the order of addition of the reactants. For example, if an oxidizing agent and MBTH are mixed before adding the aldehyde, a light green to green/blue color results. This method could be used for solution test or for tests on a solid phase such as on nylon membrane. The latter also could be used for measurements with a device or instrument such as a color reader and used in combination with a second aldehyde tester and a pH tester.

The method comprising the steps of: a) placing the medical instruments into a container after their use in a medical procedure; b) closing the container to seal the instruments inside whereby to prevent personnel contact with the instruments and any contaminants which might be thereon; c) inserting the sealed container into a washer/decontaminator and sealing the washer/decontaminator; d) the washer/decontaminator automatically opening the container and applying a washing fluid thereto to wash the instruments within the container; and e) the washer/decontaminator automatically applying a disinfectant to the container to disinfect the instruments whereby to allow safe handling thereof by personnel.

The container includes a basin for receiving one or more medical instruments, a fill level sensor for detecting presence of a soaking substance at a minimum fill level, a lid closure sensor which detects closure of a lid onto the basin, and a timer adapted to begin a timing sequence when both the fill lever sensor detects presence of the soaking substance at the minimum fill level and the lid closure sensor detects closure of the lid. Proper soaking of the instruments prior to a full cleaning procedure improves the reliability of the cleaning procedure.
