    Abstract: A method and system for providing information about recorded media content having a beginning and end time. A progress bar including a first portion is displayed on a display device. The first portion graphically represents the duration of the recorded media content and has a first color. The progress bar also includes a second portion having a second color. The second portion graphically represents a section of the recorded media content that is viewed during a viewing session. The second color is distinct from the first color.

    Abstract: A video recorder for recording audiovisual programming includes: a storage device for recording audiovisual programming and a list of users; a processor for controlling the storage device; and a user interface. The processor is configured to selectively grant access to a particular audiovisual recording based on a list of authorized users selected from the list of users. Another video recorder includes: a storage device for recording audiovisual programming; a processor for controlling the storage device; and a user interface. The processor is configured to selectively require a system password before allowing access to any particular audiovisual recording that is indicated as locked.

    Abstract: Various aspects of television commercial handling are presented. Television commercials are identified in a transport stream that contains commercial data. The commercials are stored and retrieved from a folder in a PVR-like device. A database of commercial information is build for easy retrieval of the commercials. Commercials can be flagged with restrictions against trick play. Various user interface mechanisms are described.     Abstract: Apparatuses for reordering a plurality of data elements that utilize a buffer capable of storing at least one data element. The last data element (Pn) is located and moved to the buffer. The data element (Px) that should be located at the location of the last data element (Pn) is moved to fill the space vacated. If the last data element should be located at the location of Px, then the last but one (Pn-1) element is located and moved to the buffer. The element (Px′) that should be located at the location of Pn-1 is then moved to the location of Pn-1. The process is repeated until all the data elements are reordered.
