Abstract: A method to present information associated with a group of virtual components in a virtualized environment includes collecting a first resource usage data and a second resource usage data associated with a virtual component of the group of virtual components. In response to a region of the graphical representation associated with a difference between the first resource usage data and the second resource usage data exceeding a threshold, the method also includes collecting first graphical representation rendering information to render the first resource usage data as a first graphic in the graphical representation, collecting second graphical representation rendering information to render the second resource usage data as a second graphic in the graphical representation, and collecting third graphical representation rendering information including a reduction factor to reduce the region in the graphical representation to a third graphic in the graphical representation.

Abstract: A method is provided for a plug-in manager in a virtual machine (VM) system to install or update a plug-in at a web client server in the VM system. The plug-in extends the web client server with a user interface element to interact with a management entity implemented as a VM in the VM system. The method includes receiving, from the management entity, a request to register or update the plug-in, wherein the request includes an address and authentication information for the management entity, recording the address and the authentication information, transmitting, to the web client server, an instruction to install or update the plug-in, receiving, from the plug-in at the web client server, a request for the address and the authentication information for the management entity, and transmitting, to the plug-in at the web client server, the address and the authentication information for the management entity.

Abstract: A method for a processor to provide a chart of a performance metric in a collection interval includes creating regions by dividing the collection interval into regions of increasingly smaller time intervals and determining a mean and a variance for each region based on data points in that region, sorting the regions by their variances and means, and processing the sorted regions. Processing the sorted regions includes removing any child region when its parent region has a variance that substantially represents the child region, and replacing any two neighboring or intersecting regions with a merged region comprising the two neighboring or intersecting regions when the merged region has a variance that substantially represents the two neighboring or intersecting regions. The method further includes generating the chart by visually indicating highest ranking regions by variance in the chart and displaying the chart or transmitting the chart over a computer network.

Abstract: An example method to deploy a web client plugin in a virtualized computing environment may include obtaining information identifying a virtual machine at a management entity and generating configuration information that includes the information identifying the virtual machine. The method may further include registering, with the management entity, the configuration information to deploy the web client plugin as a web client extension. The registration is performed such that, in response to an access to the virtual machine via the web client plugin, the web client plugin is able to automatically identify the virtual machine based on the configuration information.
