Various systems, methods, and programs embodied in computer-readable mediums are provided for determining optimum sizes of packaging in a packaging suite employed in a materials handling facility. The packaging may be used, for example, in the shipping of items from the materials handling facility to various destinations. The sizes of the packaging in the packaging suite are determined based upon the shipping volumes associated with packages or shipments shipped from the materials handling facility.

Systems and computer-implemented methods for predictive routing of item packages within a materials handling facility are disclosed. A predictive router may operate in conjunction with a container recommender, and both may be components of a facility management system. The predictive router may determine a routing destination for an item package dependent, at least in part, on the size and/or dimensions of a container that was recommended for handling the item package. The routing destination may be a shipping line customized for preparation of packed boxes of a particular size or in a particular size range for shipment. An optional scanner may attempt to determine the size of the actual container being used to ship the item package, and the predictive router may update the routing destination if the actual container does not match the recommended container. The predictive router may also consider special handling instructions when determining a routing destination.

A computer-implemented method for automatically correcting item dimension values may facilitate operations of a materials handling facility. Such a method may include recommending a container for handling one or more items dependent on currently stored item dimension values and determining if any of the item values are inaccurate dependent on an actual container used to handle the one or more items. In some embodiments, the method may include calculating a volumetric utilization of an actual and a recommended container and comparing the two utilizations to determine if the recommended container was too large or too small. If the recommended container was too large or too small, the method may include flagging one or more of the items for measurement and/or correcting item dimensions for one or more of the items. Items may be flagged for measurement in response to a single mismatch between recommended and actual containers or multiple mismatches.

A carrier transferring load and unload system of low frame bridge type between the shore side crane and the stack field crane, wherein said system comprises: at least one low frame bridge which being arranged under the back extension distance of the shore side crane and parallel to the crane large carrier rail; at least one set of rail extending along the length direction of the low frame bridge being arranged at the top and middle parts of each low frame bridge respectively; a low frame bridge crane carrier being arranged on the top rail and traveling along the rail; a low frame bridge plate carrier being arranged on the middle rail and traveling along the rail; the low frame bridge crane carrier and the low frame bridge plate carrier can travel across each other; the ground rails perpendicular to the length direction of the low frame bridge being arranged under the low frame bridge at the position corresponding to each stacking container area and being extended to load and unload area of the sea side end part of the stack field; and the ground plate carrier being arranged on each ground rail respectively and traveling along the rail. The invention increases the load and unload efficiency of the container stock significantly and may realize the semi-automation and automation of the load and unload of the container stock.

The invention relates to a container crane with two carriers for lifting two 40 foot containers, wherein the container crane comprises: a front carrier and a back carrier, the front carrier is mounted on the upper rail of a large beam and is able to travel on the upper rail, the back carrier is mounted on the lower rail of a gate frame transverse beam and is able to travel on the lower rail; an intermediate transfer platform having container locations is mounted under the gate frame transverse beam; when unloading the containers, the front carrier lifts and transfers two 40 foot containers to the intermediate transfer platform along the upper rail, the back carrier lifts and transfers the two 40 foot containers on the intermediate transfer platform to a ground transportation truck; when loading the containers, it is vice versa. The front carrier of the container crane of the present invention can load and unload two 40 foot containers side by side at a time easily while protect the containers from swing during the loading and unloading orientation of the container between the crane and the ground transportation truck. The speed and efficiency of loading and unloading of the containers between the container ships, the container cranes and the ground transportation trucks is increased by using the container crane of the present invention. The container crane of the present invention may be used at an automatic container dock, or a conventional container dock such that it has a hot prospect and a wide application field.

An improved slider design is disclosed. The width of the slider is less than 0.7 mm. The slider may have a thickness of 0.18 mm and a length of 0.85 mm. The air-bearing surface of the slider may have a two-tiered U-shaped rail on the leading edge. A two-tiered main compression pad, straddled by two outlying compression pads, may extend from the trailing edge of the air-bearing surface.

According to an embodiment of the present invention, an improved method and system are provided. In one embodiment, gold balls are provided and a holder using a vacuum suction force is used to pick up each gold ball. The ball is then placed next to the desired bonding pad(s) and vibrated to achieve partial melting of the ball and bonding pad(s).

A method for testing slider/disk contact in a disk drive is described. The disk drive comprises a rotating disk having tracks and a head mounted by an actuator for selective positioning of the head over any one of the tracks of the disk. The head includes a slider. The method comprises the steps of positioning the head at each of a preselected set of tracks, while at each one of the preselected set of tracks, rotating the disk of the disk drive at a preselected rotational velocity and using the head of the disk drive, at each track, to write a signal having a substantially uniform pattern on the disk as it rotates. Thereafter, rotating the disk at a fixed preselected rotational velocity, and while rotating at the fixed preselected rotational velocity, using the head to read back the signals written at each one of the preselected set of tracks. The read back signals are used to determine rotational velocities at which slider/disk contact occurs.
