摘要: An apparatus and method for controlling the position of a web containing location identifying information thereon. In particular, a means for measuring displacement of the web independent of the location information is employed to measure the displacement of the web in a cyclic manner such that the measuring cycle is in the expected displacement intervals between identifying information. A difference between a desired position of the web determined by an operator controlled reference displacement position of the web is determined, and used for controlling the position of the web to the desired position.

摘要: A support system includes a support post and support means for adjustably supporting a member to the support post. The support means includes a locking mechanism movable between a first position for press-fitting the support means, directly or indirectly, against the support post and a second position for releasing the press-fitting. The locking mechanism has a surface that abuts the support post, or a wedge member associated with the support post, when in the first position thereby to effect the press-fitting and that is released from the support post when moved to the second position to release the press-fitting.

摘要: A wall-mounted shelving system is provided that is easy to install, allows for a placement which is unlimited by stud location, holds heavy loads, and is easily cleanable. This wall-mounted shelving system includes a track and a bracket engagable with the track. The bracket has a collar for supporting a shelf-carrying pilaster and an engaging element protruding from the collar that includes a floor and an arm projecting upwardly from the floor to define an elbow. The track is adapted to be mounted horizontally on a wall and includes a downwardly open channel at its top and an outwardly projecting ledge at its bottom. The upper extreme of the engaging element arm is received in the channel of the track while the elbow can be supported to rest on the ledge. A pilaster is adapted to then be supported in the collar through an intermediate wedge member, and shelves and other objects can be supported on the pilaster.

摘要: A digitally controlled motor drive system using a pulse width modulated motor drive receives a desired motor velocity signal and an actual motor velocity signal and it provides a corresponding velocity error signal. The velocity error signal is adjusted in response to a change in the value of a power voltage supplied to the motor. The velocity error signal may be compensated for back electromotive force and/or for static friction in the motor, if desired. The system is simple, reliable and cost effective.

摘要: Articles made of shape memory alloys having improved fatigue performance and to methods of treating articles formed from shape memory alloy materials by pre-straining the articles (or desired portions of the articles) in a controlled manner so that the resultant articles exhibit improved fatigue performance. The shape memory articles are preferably medical devices, more preferably implantable medical devices. They are most preferably devices of nitinol shape memory alloy, most particularly that is superelastic at normal body temperature. The pre-straining method of the present invention as performed on such articles includes the controlled introduction of non-recoverable tensile strains greater than about 0.20% at the surface of a desired portion of a shape memory alloy article. Controlled pre-straining operations are performed on the shape-set nitinol metal to achieve non-recoverable tensile strain greater than about 0.20% at or near the surface of selected regions in the nitinol metal article. The pre-straining operations result in a significant increase in fatigue life of the selectively treated regions and an overall improvement in the fatigue performance of the device.

摘要: A medication cart also holding at least one drawer or tray and at least one bin supported on the tray containing an array of drawers and bins, and a multi-level cassette assembly. An internal locking mechanism secures the cassette assembly when it is positioned in the medication cart, and an external locking mechanism secures the cassette assembly outside of the medication cart. In addition, the cassette assembly includes a mechanism that selectably provides access to an entire tray and all bins carried in it at one time or that provides access to single bins carried on the tray one at a time. This mechanism, more particularly, (a) permits a tray to be nearly fully withdrawn from the cassette assembly thereby exposing a major portion of all carried bins to access all of their contents, and (b) permits the tray to be only partially withdrawn from the cassette assembly so that only a minor portion is exposed but such that each bin can independently be removed from the tray one at a time to access its contents.

摘要: Braking and motion-arrest apparatus for braking the arrival of a zipline cable rider at a landing platform and arresting the rider's motion to retain the rider at the platform. A frame is mounted on the cable to allow longitudinal rolling movement of the frame along the cable. A self-closing one-way latch is provided at the forward end of the frame. The latch includes a pair of capture plates which are normally inwardly biased toward one another, on opposite sides of the cable. The rider is tethered to a pulley block which rolls along the cable and collides with the latch. The collision force drives the plates laterally away from the cable, allowing the pulley block to roll through the latch. After the pulley block rolls past the latch, the plates' normal biasing closes the latch, preventing the pulley block from rolling back through the latch.
